Cant really hear the vocals

A basic run down on my set up is a keenwood excelon HU, mtx thunder amp powering two 12" pioneer premiers, door speakers are infinity references. Now I can not really hear the vocals well, in any other car you turn the volume up to 9-10 and it's kinda loud, but in my car even up to 17-18 I cant, i'v tryed adjusting the frequences and what not and cant get it much better. The music it's self sounds real good, just cant hear what there saying. Anyone have any suggestions on whats up, need any more info about my set up let me know. Thanks

only thing that comes to mind is that your subs are over powering your mids and highs.

Are your component speakers hooked up to an amp? If not, your HU just isn't cutting it up high ;)

Why exactly are my subs over powering my mids and highs, do I need to turn down the gains you mean, also my componets arent hooked up to an amp, but I'v heard plenty other set ups with out componets being amp powered and there pretty loud.

give this a try, unhook your sub and listen to your system and listen to the same music with and w/o the sub. You'll see what you are missing or not hearing. your best bet is to amp your mids and highs b/c you'll notice the difference.

I'd have to agree.....amping those infinitys will greatly enhance your listening pleasure

Yeah I know that amping the mids would really help, but they should at least be decent with out an amp. Also I disconnected the power from the amp and turned the stereo on with the car off and it didnt make a change, with the car off, or just idling, I can hear the vocals better, just cruising is really bad. you would think that it would be halfway decent with just the HU but it all depends on what you are looking for in your system. If you feel that it's inadequate, I would highly suggest getting your mids and highs ampped

One last question, I was glancing threw the HU owners manual in the troubleshooting guide and it said if "there's no loudness effect" and said that your using non-fading preout, and there is no loudness effect in non-fading preout. So should the amp be hooked to the rear preout or the non-fading or does it matter. I dont see why it would effect the componets if only the subs are hooked like that.
