vert SFC install question

I bought some BRM SFC's for my car and i brought them to the shop today to get them installed. The guy there had never installed them before. He said something about it would be a cash job no reciepts because he doesnt wanna be responsible for messin up my suspension but he would do his best job. Just how hard is this install, it looks pretty easy from my instructions. I could do it if it wasnt for the welding part. And also, what could you mess up?

You could mess up two things, that I can think of:

1) You need the car sitting on its wheels in normal resting position while you weld them on, so there's no chance the frame is twisted while you weld. Don't want to permanently introduce a twist into the car.

2) At the front driver's side, the SFC's come very close to the fuel lines, and you need to make real sure you don't catch the car on fire while you do the install.

dave, thats is a great help of advice! no one i have been asking about sfc said that. since that will be the next part to go on, it helps allot!

If you leave the interior in, which most do, you can of course burn the car up.

yep it happened here in the NW... the carpet was out, but one seatbelt happened to droop over the welding area when it was on the lift. When a headliner goes up in smoke, and the dash decides to follow suite... stuff really goes to h3ll.

Cleaning up that mess took gallons upon gallons of Simple Green... 100's of hours... and many showers afterwards. :)

Since then... EVERYONE in the area I've known has removed everything. Seats, seat belts, carpet, center console... EVERYTHING.

well i guess im lucky... everything went well and no burnt car... i like the extra stiffness, but sometimes it feels like i can get up on 2 wheels now:eek:
