How do I lower a third gen?

What springs would you guys recommend? Is eibach alright? It's for a '91 RS TBI.

eibach should be fine alot of guys run them I will be getting a set when i deside what shocks i want to run.

An onverly cheap solution is to just cut the springs. I did this until I can afford to go through my suspension with a fine tooth comb. It effectively lowered my car about 2". Of course I took off about 1 3/4 coils.

The "best" way to do this is with something like Belltech dropped spindles. That way you lower the ride heighth without losing suspension travel.

does doing this not completly mess up the camber on the car hence effectively causing severe damage to anything that is some way related to the frame ie everything? ive heard that some very bad things happening when people try to lower their cars like that

holy **** yeahhhhhhhhhh dont lower that camaro youll rip your front spoiler off and ground out everyware if anything the sell a kit that rasies the height do not lower by all means this is the worst thing for camaros

Yes thats rice...my neighbors honda has cut springs..

i have DropZone lowering springs on my 87 IROC and when i put them in,i also put in new KYB shocks and struts. it handles and looks awsome. doesnt bounce at all and makes the car feel like it sticks to the road better=lowering the center of gravity

For the money the Eibach Pro Kit is probably the best out there. 1.25-1.5" drop. It's been proven time and time again but I'd check around more and see what others are using.

I ran Jamex for a couple of years, great springs at a great price. $108 shipped back in 2000 when BMR had a blow-out on them.
I am running Eibach Sportlines on the car now since I got a killer deal on them, $75 for the set with 2K miles on them.
I haven't driven the car with the Eibachs yet since the car isn't put back together yet.

Where do you know of any kit that is sold to raise a Camaro? By the way. The lower you go the less wind drag. The less wind drag the less hp to move the wt. the less hp to move the wt. the better the fuel mileage. HOWEVER. busted gfx don't look all that hot so don't go any lower than the local speed bumps allow. if you don't know how much they allow get a ruler and go measure then add about 2" for additional wt( you weigh something) and that is the ride ht you should probably try to have on your car. There is a good article on this at Camaroworld.com or Thirdgen.com (one of those 2)I think. do the search it will help in the long run.

I use Eibach Pro Kit springs on mine - I live with the fact that my car scrapes on occasion, it scraped at stock ride height n the car's built for handling so I just respray the ground effect every once in a while. Don't waste your time with the Eibach Sportline's unless you're looking for ultimate lowering, they don't handle as well, the Pro Kit literally is "The Look that Performs". I only noticed about 3/4" drop since my stock springs were sagged but compared to friends with stock 3rd gen's, I'm real glad I didnt get the 1LE springs like some people go for to improve handling, I dont like all that fender gap 3rd gens have. A 1.5" drop is decent and works well with my rear 255-50-16 tires, I don't notice much difference at the track either, I was concerned with the stiffness for weight transfer but I don't have any problems at all.

I agree Eibach is top notch. They do everything Import and Domestic.

don't cut the springs. . . you could always tell when someone is driving around on cut springs... their car/truck bounces like crazy. may not be noticable to the driver, but i know a few friends who cut their spring on their cars and i laugh everytime i see 'em drive down the street b/c their car bounces around, even though the road is flat!!! god that's the funniest thing! hahaha

dude, invest in a decent set of lowering springs! it's worth it

People who cut their stock springs are forgetting that performance lowering springs are stiffer for a reason - to prevent bottoming out and rubbing your tires against the inner wheel wells, read the eibach site, I believe they even say it can be dangerous, not too sure how - but yeah I heard this one 16 year old kid say "yeah my friend is gonna show me the right way to cut springs cuz u can cut them if u do it right" - what a moron.

I used the suspension techniques springs, and have been quite happy with them. Noticeable inprovement in handling.
