Quick TBI questions

1. Do I have dual cats or a single cat?
2. What headers are available for these cars? The cheaper the better.
3. What cat-back systems are available? I'm looking for a dynomax super turbo cat-back.
4. Are the underdrive pulley kits for TPI's the same as for TBI's?

Thanks.

All tbi cars got a small single cat.

alots of choices for headers get a set with a y-pipe so there is less fabwork slp and hooker are the best i think but they are going to be pricey i recomend getting the coating also.

the tpi catback will work, all will be about the same gains just make sure you get a 3 inch i

yes the tpi pullies will work on your tbi car.

Will that Random tech exaust fit on a TBI? I have had great experience with it on my 96..13.94 RWHP. Very quiet too..

One thing you need to make a decision about with a TBI system is the exhaust diameter BEHIND the headers. If you buy a TBI-specific set of headers and y-pipe it will be essentially identical to the TPI system set EXCEPT that the collector pipe (y-pipe outlet) will be only 2-1/4"- same size as a stock TBI cat. Too small to make power. I highly recommend you buy everyting as if you were putting it on a single-cat TPI car of the same year. That will get you the larger 3" collector pipe (to take a larger 3" cat) and then you can put the larger 3" cat back on the car, again, as if it were a same-year TPI car.

All the hangers will line up just like stock except the cat, since you're buying an aftermarket one anyway. A muffler shop can take care of this minor difference for you fairly easily.

Do these things have rear O2 sensors like the OBD2 in my 96? I'd like to take off that old catalytic converter without having to buy O2 sims.

Dont use underdrive pulleys. Nothing but problems. Not worth the gain IMO

No they only have 1 (one) single wire 02 sensor on the driver's side. They cost $18 from autozone.
