69 Z28 302 question

On a 69 Camaro equiped with the 302 what color are the "302" emblems supposed to be? my friend has just bought one and the emblems have been painted white and they seem to be red underneath, does any one know?

The "302" emblems that go on the sides of the cowl hood should be white. The"Z/28" emblems have the "Z/" red and the "28" is white.
