Red face Testing Paint for Contamination.....

I recently learned about a trick to test for imbedded surface contamination, and boy was I surprised! I have always heard that you should simply rub the tips of your fingers and/or palm to test for the "gritty" feel. So, with so many coats of Zaino on my car now, to the bare hand my paint is super smooth, which I thought was great, i.e no contamination. But, I tried a new method I read about where you take either a plastic baggy or a piece of cellophane (Saran) wrap over your fingers then rub the surface. Wow! My paint feels like sandpaper under the cellophane... Looks like its time to clay I suppose. And all this time I thought my finish was smooth and contaminant free. You might want to give this a try, if you already haven't, and you may be quite surprised...I know I was.

The baggie is the best way of "feeling" the smoothness of the surface for contamination.
