How Do I "Professionally" Polish Rims?

What do these guys do at the "professional" wheel polishing shops? Is it something I could do at home over the winter? What all do I need? Also, what could I use to clear coat the wheels when I was finished? Thanks...

I have never done anything but hand polishing, but the www.eastwoodco.com (http://www.eastwoodco.com) sells a lot of stuff to do this with.

Eastwood's website isn't working right. KevinSS, what do you recommend to clean up and protect polished wheels? I would like to clearcoat them so they are easier to clean.

Website works perfect for me, I would suggest you call them, first of all, what kind of wheel (be exact) are you trying to polish out.

They are used polished Eagle 5 stars (from 5litereater). I haven't got them yet, they should come in this week. I just wanted to know what all I needed to get them ready for the spring. I am not the most persistent wheel cleaner, so I want to try to protect them as much as possible before I mount them. You know cleaners, polishes, protectants (clearcoating??). I have Zaino, but I was looking for something that maybe didn't shine as much, but lasted longer. Something made for protecting wheels.

Personally I do not like clear coated wheels, all I run is raw billet, so I am not going to tel you to do that. Unless the wheels are major messed up, a hand polishing with Blue Magic or Wenol or Magic Mix should be all that is needed, just wash them very often is all I do and my wheels always look good. You can Zaino them, it will help a whole bunch and use Z-6 to clean light brake dust off , just use a cloth you do not plan on keeping or using again, I like to use the blue shop paper towels, get brake dust on them, just toss em.

Meguires Rim Polish is wicked. I use that on my Eagle Rims and it work great. If you really need to clean them get a buffer..
