Guys with chrome rims and of course Kevin. http://web.camaross.com/bb/smile.gif
I just took my chrome rims off for the winter and gave them a good cleaning. While I was cleaning I noticed a bunch of black stuff stuck in the ridges inside the rim, some came off and some didnt. Thats brake dust right? Whats the best way to get it out?
I also noticed a couple of big brown stains that dont come off. It looks like someone spilled coffee on the inside of the rim. Does anyone know what it is and how to get it off?
I plan of giving the rims a couple of coats of zaino this winter. What should I do Z1 Z2? Will this keep the brake dust off?
Thanks guys http://web.camaross.com/bb/smile.gif

Inside of rims get dirt, brake dust, and bearing/tie rod grease on them all the time, nothing you can do to prevent it. Yes you can use Z-1 and Z-2 on any hard smooth surface like chrome. Most factory chrome are not really chrome but clear coated chrome, so that is different.

cixelsyD21 11-02-2001, 09:25 PM When I was younger, I remeber listening to the radio about ways to prevent brake dust to build up on your rims, you spray some PAM, or other non stick grease on it. I personally dont know if it works or not,(I have the gay spiral hubcaps, soon to change when my income increases) and I very well might have dreamed that up, but if you try it, reply and let me know whether it works or not.
95_RipperZ 11-05-2001, 08:22 PM I got the same thing. I am going to give them a thorough rub down this winter with some of the Mothers Mag Polish. See how that works hopefully well. If not I'm in your boat too. http://web.camaross.com/bb/frown.gif

Spiffyv6 11-05-2001, 09:49 PM I use oven degreaser, it breaks up the grease GREAT! BUT!!!!! and I say but because if you don't listen to this but, you can fudge up your wheels pretty bad. You MUST spray the degreaser fast, and immediatly spread it around evenly, do not let it sit for long, just keep working it in till that crap comes off. If you don't spread the degreaser evenly, it will actually eat the metal. Yes, its powerful stuff. So be careful and enjoy your nice clean wheels. http://web.camaross.com/bb/smile.gif

Do you have the embedded brake dust or the coffee like stain?

Coffee like stain. It only seems to be noticeable on one rim too. The other ones look fine.
