Poly or Rod end? LCAs

I'm looking at getting some LCAs now,originaly I was looking into BMR Extreme Adj. LCAs. or the BMR Street Adj LCAs.
I just dont know if I will need adjustability now or in future,so I have started thinking of something other than Adj.What do you think about that? Right?

So now I'm thinking non-Adj. And the ones in concideration are 1. BMR boxed poly/poly 2. GW poly/poly 3. GW 3piece rod/rod end 4. G2 tubular single adj. poly/rod end

Most the rod end/rod end are classified as "race only" why? Does it really make the ride that harsh or something?

What should I get bushing wise to get the most street/track practicality outa the car?

I kinda think that the G2 single adj. rod/poly will get me a happy medium in this department.Would that be a accurate assumption?


As far as single adj. poly/rod if thats the one I get...when installing if I take the stock off and and compare to the single adj. stick a bolt thru both to make sure the new adj. one is exact length as the stock removed by making adjustments.
Would that insure that the rear is sitting where it was to began with with stock LCA,you know not be screwed up alignment wise?

What about a specific company that makes LCAs with the better rod ends. I definitely do not want jingle bells in the rear.
I know that Unbalanced Engineering makes thiers with the Aurora rod end that are supposed to be as good as QA1.Those suckas cost $270 but ehh if I have to I will.
I wonder what type of rod end GW puts in thier LCAs that are rod/rod.
I know from thier site that it is best I get rod/rod LCAs,but they dont talk of the brand or type of sphereical bearing they put in thier LCAs,and dont want those cheap ones.

I don't know whats wrong with the aluminium units though? I mean if you use a quality rod end, it shouldn't be jingling around... I would think they're would be a lot of bind if you used a polyurethane setup, unless you greased it every day, it would be stiffer than rubber, but it doesn't have the torsional properties (or lack thereof) that rubber has.

I would definently go with the rod ends, $120 for 4 rod ends and about $30 in aluminium and you have yourself a lightweight, very stiff, very strong set of LCA's. Lower unsprung weight, save about $100 off any other set of similar control arms that weigh more.

XMR-12 x2 and XML-12 x2, under rod ends, they are made by QA1. You'll need spacers for those too.

I'll give a recommendation for the Unbalanced Engineering stuff. I have the LCAs and the PHR. They are very high quality pieces. Work great.

for 12 a piece with tapped ends and wrench flats all you need to do is buy the rodends and you could make your LCAs, and panhard for less then that one pair of LCAs you were talking about, and you know the quality is good. the most you need to do is cut some spacers, chop a little off the panhard tube you order and thats that, great deal IMO.

I have a Slotcar Performance adj. PHB with teflon-coated heim-joints, and I can't hear it at all so far.

I imagine heim-joints on an LCA would provide similar results.

I prefer rod ends over poly, and have the LG aluminum LCA's and PHB.

fyrhwk1, Yeah Larnachs idea is a worthy one I havent ruled that out the way I figure total cost $182= 4x $36 2x $13 +$12 +$3 and some shipping from three different places. And that is pretty good for the lightest weight LCAs w/ the best rod ends avail. I apreciate the help Larnach;)

chuck, I havent seen any aluminum LCAs at LG motorsports,could you show me? I saw the one set with the poly/rod single adj.

On the existing stock LCAs I have a length of 20" bolt to bolt,is a 16" trailing arm be long enough?I dont know how long the threads are on the rod end but they would have to be pretty long. 4" of threads a least to make good stength and have about 2" inserted on both sides but the body of the rod end will take a bit off the overall 4" difference in length needed. I may have to get a longer trailing arm than 16".

The stock LCA's are 19.25" bolt to bolt. A 16" arm with rod ends and jam nuts will be adjustable between 19" and 20.5" keeping 1" thread engagement (the minimum you should have to keep a decent margin of safety) at each rod end. If the range of adjustment on Slotcar's website is correct, their arms are too short and will be very weak when adjusted to the longer lengths.
