poor track results

I went to the track friday night, 80 degrees give or take a bit and not sure what the humidity was. I just had 4.10's installed a few weeks ago and me and a friend installed my flp longtubes last weekend with a slp loudmouth dual dual. Anyway, my previous best was a 12.69@ 111 with only a lid and catback in January(55 degrees). Friday night was a different story....12.81@ 111.96. I knew the e.t. would not be there(heat) thought my trap speed would!!!

Am I wrong for thinking that?

You're telling us you trapped 111 with a lid only?!?!

Yes, you should have trapped higher. But, the weather sounded ideal when you ran the car before. If you run the car in those conditions again, you should pick up another 2 mph or so...

I ran my car about a month ago to a 13.47@102.5. Then I got new wires, plugs, coil, and fixed an exhaust leak and could only manage a 13.77 @102.1. I wouldnt worry about it too much.

Sounds like you picked the right mods for the car and the times are "OK". Those original numbers seem high. When you ran those numbers, did you have 2 or 3 runs with the same results or was it a one time run? I feel it may have been a freak run.
the weather definately is a factor also.

I ran 2 more runs that night I ran the 12.69 and they were 12.78 and a 12.72.... I had the lid AND a bullet (dynomax) muffler after the Y pipe dumping infront of the passenger rear tire. I ran the 12.69 at a better track...prepped....the other night my best 60' was a 2.07 and when I ran the 12.69 i cut a 2.00 60'(stock F1's)

I feel a 12.30 is possible in some 50-60 degree weather.....Don't take this as being cocky but I think my car is strong from the factory (not a freak) I ran a 13.06 @108 bone stock down to the paper filter. My car is strong and I have some good driving skills. Again, Iam not being a ***** saying I can drive better than all!

Thanks for the replys!

Try shifiting higher.. your powerband most likely moved up some.. and the weather def. made a diff. too

I have the rev limiter set at 6400 and my shift light @ 6200. Iam guessing Iam shifting @ 6300 or a touch over. I wouldn't mind a cam with the valve components so I could shift @ 6500 as long as I would pull some 11.'s:cool:

weather hurt you...humidity can kill a nite at the track...especially on a NA motor

oh yeah.... LS1+4.10's+sticky tires= one of two things

1.at least 12's
2.a broken rearend...

i personally have seem more of the latter.....

get some good weather and stickys and you should be low 12s. with a 111-114 trap...

good luck next time
