Sheesh! BFG DR's wear quick

I put my BFG DR's on (finally) and tried 'em out on an old road. I suppose they hook better but until I get time slips who knows. They seem to hook better while they are spinning, but I was never able to do a full throttle launch. The treads sure are beat up after such a short test (less tha 10 miles and maybe 5 dead stop launches. The 1st 1/8-3/16" of the lugs are gone. I hope they can make the 100 mile round trip to the drags!

FYI, my old tires were BFG Radial TA's that gave me pretty consistant 1.9 60' times with a low of 1.86. I was hoping for a 1.7, but am not so sure it'll happen without tires that wrinkle.

Depending on how much of a burnout you do, Drag Radials have a 3000-5000 mile life expectancy. That's not much life for an expensive tire to drive on the street with. Even if there's rubber left of the tire they can become worn out if the rubber becomes dried out and there's no oils left in them to make the rubber sticky.

You would have been better off buying an extra set of rims for some drag slicks then swap them at the track.

I may end up doing just that ... buying a set of cheap rims and putting my old tires on them for my trips to the track.

I used to get about 2-3000 miles per set with the bfgs
with my nittos I have 7000 miles and the wear is not even noticeable(not scary in the rain yet)
