what all does a higher stall convertor do
what all does a higher stall convertor do
what does a higher stall torque convertor (say 2800?) do, besides allow you to stall higher on launch? after you get going what is it good for? im not debating whether or not theyre worth the money b/c if they do improve the performance of my car then 10 times out of 9 im gonna get one, but i was just wondering what their capabilities are and what makes em so good?
a guy with a 98SSm6 told me that a 2800 stall would really wake up my car...how?

What I understand it to do is bring your motor closer to is max horsepower rating. Say you make 300 hp at 5400 rpm. The converter would lock up at 2800 bringing your lauch closer to your max rpm.
Someone else may chime in with a more technical answer, but basically, I think that's what it does.

mainly it keeps the engine in its higher powerband. When it shifts it doesnt come down as low in the rpms as the stock one did. Lets say when the stock one shifted 1-2 the rpms dropped to say 2200 and the aftermarket one drops to 3000. Well your making power better at 3000 than 2200 so the engine is in its powerband and you go faster
