I'm in the middle of building a fiberglass box for my Camaro Convertible. I have 3 layers of fiberglass in it so far, 1 layer of mat and 2 layers of cloth. How many more layers should I add and should I add wooden braces? Anyone have any suggestions about what I can do to the box...its to much time and money to "learn by experience" so please any input is greatly appreciated!

Try and get it to about 3/8" thick. The number of layers all depends on what oz. of stuff you are using. Let me know if you have any other questions.

I'm not sure what oz the stuff i'm using is.... I bought it at home depot. So far I have 2 layers of Mat and 3 layers of cloth. I was going to add 2 wooden braces tommorow then start to fiberglass the top on. I've never done anything with fiberglass before....I hope this box sounds good.

Just use the thickness I gave you as a guide. Since you're also using a woven cloth you can run it a little thinner. Most of the stuff at Hoem Depot is around 1 1/2 oz. the last time I looked. If you ever need anymore check out www.USComposites.com they have great prices. I use their cheapest Polyester Resin and it's much better than anything I've tried from Home Depot. If the box is really larger a few wooden braces if probably a good idea. Dowel rods work well. As does just good ole 1x2's.
