Hi..
When installing a ATI kit I unplugged the PCV and vent it to atm. as you should when adding a blower. Now my engine leaks oil in the front between pan/camchain cover.... I guess it's the lack of vacuum that caursing it. Any ideas?
? - Connect hose from valve covers to air filter?
? - Connect hose from valve covers to exhaust?
? - Use a LT1 AIR pump as a vacuum pump?
? - Buy a Moroso vacuum pump ? ( expensive!)

I called these guys, pretty good crew. Anyways, they have this electric vaccum pump that is self regulated to 14" that they sell for around $200. I think i'm gonna try it out on my new motor.

Here a link if you decide to try it to the filter....He uses a oil separator.

My friend was leaking about 1 qaurt every 1000 miles when he had his vented to the atompshere....Now he hooked it up to the filter and he only looses about 1/2 of a quart every 1000 miles. He said he noticed that there is not that many oil drips under the car after he is parked for a while like there was before....
Mabee someone can explain why that is and if this is really something we should all be doing or NOT doing?
Thanks,
Claude

Here's a shot of the Gast 22D1180-201-1002 ($162.50): http://para.noid.org/~lj/vacuumpump.jpg. I haven't put a gauge on the crankcase yet, so I can't tell you how much vacuum it pulls.

I have to address this issue as well. I think I'll go with the Speed Demon set up.
Anyone have one now?

Thanks for the info- I am also researching this. I think I'll go with a separator or resevoir/filter and a vacuum pump due to some oil in the intake. Aparently Mr. Gasket is coming out with a pump, but I emailed tech and they said it won't be out until sometime this summer. I had thought of using the AIR pump for this cause it makes decent suction but found out that these don't last with oil in the air - and that's true for a lot of the other pumps that you could find in salvage yards. So it's better to go with a purpose built pump.

Is everyone with a FI having this problem or is it just a few? Should I add a vacuum pump on to my 2 buy list for my new engine?

the instructions should have said to cap off the source port on the throttle body, and extend the source tubing to before the supercharger.. then put an additional one way boost valve after the pcv valve so you dont boost your crankcase.
that being said i still just vent my crankcase to atmosphere.
