auxillary input in stock delco or do i need new head unit?

i have a 94 Z with the Delco CD player. anyways all my music is on my Apple Ipod MP3 player. i'd like to be able to hook my Ipod up to my stock stereo by having an auxillary input added, is this possible? if not i guess i'll need a new head unit, what kind should i get (inexpensive, auxillary input on front of headunit, cd, looks decent). thanks for your help.

get one that plays MP3's, so you wont be messing around...

how about an RF modulator

i thought that since i had the delco system stock i couldnt get an aftermarket cd player without replacing all of the speakers and re-wiring the whole set up ? ? ? if i can please let me know how, because i have a great one lined up cheap but it wouldnt work

so can i have an an auxillary input put on...whats an rf modulator?

i dont exactly understand what this mp3 player u have is. but an RF modulator basically would plug into this unit with RCA's prob. and instead of running them to the back of the cd player like you would with an aftermarket unit, the connect to a box that translates it to a radio frequency(RF). then it just runs off of a unused radio station. just tune in to that station on your radio and theres your mp3's. same as how the aftermarket cd changers work.

sorry, my mp3 player is a portable mp3 player with five gigs of memory made by apple. it is the same as any other mp3 player. now that you describe what the modulator is, i already have one...it is called an irock or iroc (not car) and it uses two triple a batteries. the problem is it goes through batteries really fast, and the sound is often grainy or it sounds like a poor radio station transmission. i have a cassette adapter for the mp3 player as well but no cassette player in the car. i guess i'll have to buy a new head unit, i just really don't have the money and it sucks not being able to listen to my music, i hate the monotony of fm radio and my cd player doesn't work. oh well....any suggestions would be appreciated.

oh yeah, the output from the ipod is transferred basically with a wire with the small headphone jacks on each end, i know Honda Elements come with the auxillary input for mp3 players, and i saw a Jensen head unit with the same jack, all i'd need is the chord from radio shack. just wanted to let you know what the input chord looks like.

theres alot of new head units out there that have a jack on the front of them for mp3's and what not. i have seen a jvc one for sure. and im not too sure about hooking up a new deck to stock speakers but i thought you could if u bought a certain wiring harness (pac oem 1)? i dunno something like that. i dont have one of these cars so im not exactly sure

that looks pretty awesome, and definitely cheaper than a new headunit, only prob. is its for new model years, maybe i can find one for mine.
edit: it says my stereo must have a working slave unit w/ a 9 pin connector...does my 94 delco cd player have that?

well this is where my knowledge on this ends about the new stock decks. i'd say just keep searching on the net and you'll prob. find the exact connector that u need. sign up over here as well, they've really helped me out.
