I have my 2nd track event at Mid-Ohio in a few weeks. I am thinking about getting some Hawk HP+ pads on the front only, but am worried about screwing the brake bias up too much. I don't want to have to worry about unloading the rear of the car too much. Just looking for some expert opinions....I am running NAPA Ceramix pads on the rear and Bosch Performance Pads on the Front right now.
I am also going to put stainless steel brake lines on all corners and switch from SynPower brake fluid to Motul.
Thanks,
Aaron

Well, I will be running my next track day on Hawk HP+ for fronts and Hawk HPS for the rears on my 98 Z28. The reason is that the brake bias is too much for the rear in this particular car, so I have differing friction front-to-back. You car should not have this issue...
Now, I ran Beaver Run Saturday with NAPA Ceramix on the front and the originals on the rear. After 2 sessions, the rears were completely gone (I couldn't drive anymore) and the fronts were glazed and cracked pretty badly... I won't track on those NAPA's anymore...
I suppose I can't give first-hand experience on the Hawks because I haven't tried yet...

I did the Mid-Ohio event last year with very little braking issues....I experienced a little fade towards the end of my sessions, but not too bad. The Ceramix in the rear seem to be holding up fine, but it doesn't suprise me that you had problems in the front with them. I too felt that the bias was too far to the back anyway, but wasn't sure if the Hawks in the front would cause it to be too agressive.
Thanks,
Aaron

Go ahead with HP+ on the front. You won't be disappointed. Mid Ohio's not that tough on brakes though. If you try other road courses eventually that give you more chance to get some speed on the straights, you'll want to install some brake cooling ducts, and after that you'll chunk your stock rotors and calipers altogether.
What club are you going to Mid Ohio with in a few weeks? I went with NASA in early April and I love the course.

Good point, Mike. Beaver Run is brutal on brakes. Guy - be forewarned, one local guy in a heavily modified M3 had problems with his HP+ on Beaver Run and basically had severely reduced braking until he cooled off. Bear in mind, this guy is a lunatic and runs harder than just about anyone I have ever seen on a track (including race drivers)... This has not discouraged me from using my Hawks, just something that I keep in the back of my mind. Mid Ohio is easier on brake...

Thanks...You are right about Mid-Ohio the only real tough turn on brakes is the hard right hander after the back straight....I was hitting 115-120 about halfway down the track and decided to lift because I didn't trust the brakes....Was hoping to be a little more agressive this time with the upgrades.
I am going with the Audi club of North America....my friend's dad is an instructor.

If you don't mind, can you email me the contact info to see if there are still any openings for the Mid Ohio track day, as well as the date it's going on?
