A long while back when I waxed my car for the first time I got wax on the door trim piece. When you get it wet it looks like a faded red but when it dries it is white. I've tryed dishwashing liquid with no luck. Can I paint over it? Can I reverse the piece? The bottom part looks brand new. I just really looks dumb because the whole car is glossy red then you have that ugly white trim piece sticking out? I used meguires clear coat gold class liquid car wax

Remove the trim, that is what I did. Even if you find something to bring it back to red, you will have to keep doing it. IMO, the car looks better without it.

You might try using a toothbrush. I think your talking about getting wax stuck in cracks and then you can't get it out. If you are, a toothbrush is your best bet at getting it off.

To remove the trim, get some fishing line and work it in between the trim and the car and start using a sawing motion. Go far enough to get a grip on the trim and just pull it off. Getting the adhesive off becomes the pain. I used a hair dryer to soften it and just rubbed it off with my thumb. Good luck.

Any pics of what it might look like. Once I remove it there's no going back, right?

I don't have any pics yet. However, do a search in the appearance section and you should get some idea of what it will look like. Search "door molding"

OK, what is the best way to get the left over grey adhesive on the perimeter off? I got the white stuff off, but this grey stuff is getting me trouble.
