California duster.

Damn, I just bought it brand new and it says I have to let it air out for 48 hours?! Is this true? I'm sure there is no harm done if I use it before that, right? I just waxed my car about 4 days ago and don't want any mess ups. I have used my friends before but not brand new. Anybody used this thing right out the bag?

I really doubt it would be bad. I have one and i let it air out. Its to get all the extra paraffin or what ever coats the brush off. If you haven't used it yet, i would really just let it air out for the 48 hours to be on the safe side.

If you don't let it air out, it will probably cause a streaky mess on the paint because of the excess wax on the strands. Once it's cured, it works fine. I've been using the same Cali Duster for about 5-7 years (can't even remember when I got it lol) and it still works great. If it didn't need to be aired out, the manufacturer wouldn't recommend it before use.....

Ah crap...I used mine right out of the bag. Didnt even realize there were instructions on how to use a brush.

Follow the instructions and let it sit on newspaper for 48 hours and you will be amazed at how much parafin is left on the paper.
Better on newspaper than you car! After that they work even better the more you use them..

I let mine sit on a newspaper for a few days to be safe and it helped out alot. If you want maximum performance you should wash it and it works alot better.

I already let it air out and there was alot of crap on the newspaper. It ready for use now just had to make sure. I remember me and my buddies did use one right out of the bag at a car show. It was a last minute thing cuz it was kinda dusty but I don't remember seeing any streaks. That was like a year ago though.

Just wash it with dawn before you use it. No more parafrin wax streaks all over the place.

Odd. Mine is filthy dirty and it seems to work better than when it was brand new. :confused:

It defiantly works better dirty, but to point. Its like a broken in exhaust, after a long time it doesnt sound good abymore.

Yes, when the occassion calls for it I'll break out the duster. I don't use it very often now, but if I were showing my car or rarely driving my car, I'd probably use it more like I did in the past. When I have a very light coat of dust, sometimes I'll give it a swipe with the duster and it looks fine.

I mostly just wash the car now to remove any dust/dirt.

so, Do you recommend it? cause down here in El Paso TX, there is water shortage, so I cant wash my car as often as I would like.
