Hey! Let's start talking about M7! Official details inside!

Jeez...I just realized we are less than 2 months away from M7!

October 5, 2002 is creeping up on us!

For those who don't know, the M Events are annual one-day racing events in Stanton, MI at the Mid-Michigan Motorplex. It is for all GM cars and is a fun day of bracket racing and meeting up. The past couple of years it has been cold as hell but as a result, the cars run fast as hell. It is pretty common for people to run their best times of the year at an M event.
For those who do know about it, well...I am sure you are going to be there again this year, so please help the event out and spread the word!
BTW, I finally got a real domain name for the event...

http://www.migmevent.com (http://www.migmevent.com)

Cool, eh? All the details are there, so click and start planning for one of the best events in Michigan! http://web.camaross.com/bb/cool.gif

Any questions/comments/suggestions? Let's hear them! Spread the word!

WOO HOO!! Looking forward to it again this year.

I love this line:
ALSO, parties at the event hotel the night before the event are becoming somewhat famous. Please feel free to enjoy yourself but keep the partying at a respectable level. * http://web.camaross.com/bb/smile.gif

Jason I plan on being there health permitting. I always have a great time and look forward to it every year.
Thank you and the wife for the great effort you always put into it.
For anyone who has never been to a M event this is a must see. A great time to be had by all. Don't remember how many GM cars were there last year but would guess about 70. Can't wait to see everyone there.

The Vert will be in the garage with the motor out by then, but I think I am going to bring the Shaggin Wagon and a grille. Figure I can burn a bunch of dogs and sell them off for like 75 cents a piece or so. All profits I will donate to the board. That cool with you Jason? That way I can be there and watch in the fun, and still help out a bit.

Heh...that is a VERY cool idea, but if you are gonna sell them at the track, they might have a problem with it since they open their concession stands at the event. Give it a try if you like, but I don't know how long it will last!

My suggestion is to just show up and have some fun like everyone else and watch me run around like a mad man! http://web.camaross.com/bb/biggrin.gif

I've been thinking about M7 alot lately. It's actually the worst event I go to each year, NOT because of the event though, it's what happens whenever I go to it! My first M event was M5 and I didn't even make it all the way there because of a POS brake hose http://web.camaross.com/bb/mad.gif
M6 I made it to, but busted 3rd gear in my T5 and flattened a cam lobe, but still managed to drive it home. M6 was the last time I drove my car too then I took it apart, and it's still apart!
My M7 is gonna be my lucky year, because I'm not going to race the RS, mostly because I still need a strong trans, driveshaft, rear end, rollcage and subframe connectors, and some nice sticky tires. But I will be cruising it up to show it off http://web.camaross.com/bb/biggrin.gif

Should be fun anyways!

Ahhhh yes the M events. Nothing like racing in snow flurries, but the times and speeds are good. And having the heat on full blast in the staging lanes is to keep the driver warm not cool the car!

How about we set up an autocross course as part of M7 then you guys drag race me. I will lose badly (could run...13.6?) Then I will race you on a autocross course. If I beat others by more seconds in the autocross than I lost by in the drag race I win......but what?

BTW there is an autocross this weekend at WMU in K zoo.

Just got an additional event sponsor for this year!

Once again, TByrne Motorsports is helping us out with the event. So...

<font face="Verdana, Arial" size="2">Originally posted by TA Jack:

Jack, first of all, let me apologize for pointing you out when I was giving away the gift certificates from TByrne last year. I thought it might have been subtle and humourous at the time, but the more I thought about it, the more it might not have been completely apporpriate. Sorry about thatif it made you feel uncomfortable or on the sport.

Second, part of what Tom supports the event with will probably make it into the cash prizes to give to the winners. Look at it this way...if you race well, you might get something back from Tom! Not being a wise-ass this time, it's true! http://web.camaross.com/bb/smile.gif

Hahahahaha! Ah, ya big babies! It was only cold the last couple of years. http://web.camaross.com/bb/smile.gif

Acutally...

From the site:
<font face="Verdana, Arial" size="2">
Q: What does M7 mean? What is the history of this event?

A: It started with the first Michigan F-body event put on in Milan, Michigan by a couple of Camaro and Firebird enthusiasts named Paula Bousley and Steve Hauswirth. The event was called "Milan Mania" and even though only 25 cars showed up, it was a great success. The next year, Steve could not help organize another event due to a new family on the way, so Jason Debler stepped in to help Paula organize the second event. This time, the event was called Milan Mania II and it was a little bit bigger than the first. The next year, Paula was not in the position to help organize the third event, so it was up to Jason to see what he could put together. He decided to move the event to a larger facility, the Mid Michigan Motorplex. Instead of calling it "Mid Michigan Mania", Jason shortened the name to the first three letters simply calling the event "M3" to also go along with the 3rd annual event. Jason has been organizing the event ever since. As the following year's events took place, the M events began getting larger and gaining a reputation for being one of the best and most fun GM racing events of the year for the Michigan area. M7 should be no exception and we certainly hope to see you there!

The M events definatly kick ass. This is going to be my second one actually, I didn't quite make it all the way to M5, but M6 was a blast and I'm sure M7 is gonna be even more fun. I wish I had the funds and time to have my car race ready for the event, but it's gonna have to wait till M8.

Anyway for anyone who hasn't been to a M event yet, I guarantee you'll have fun.

Since Debler runs the show, he will let you know when you need to slow down. At M5 there was a blown 4th gen running low 11's and he was asked to slow it down since he had no cage. He was allowed to make balls to the wall 1/8th mile passes though! http://web.camaross.com/bb/smile.gif

I found a cage but don't think I can use it. I need one with the kick out so my big a$$ can get in and out of the car. It would be funny if I installed it and my back went out at the track. Well I guess I would just have to let everyone else drive it. http://web.camaross.com/bb/wink.gif
RedIroc yes that quick change would really freak your friend out.
I might bring both cars if my friend can come with. Maybe Duke(Joe) might want to drive the WS6 up if my friend doesn't go. I don't think Joe would, being a 3rd gen guy. http://web.camaross.com/bb/wink.gif
I am hoping to find a NX or NOS dry kit this week. I am going to have to find some more polishing jobs so the wife doesn't get to upset about the money. I think I will be working on the car a couple of hours a day until M7. Not that I don't have more time. That is about how long I can stand up in a day.
Can't wait for the M7 fun to start. I don't think Jason knows how much we look forward to this each year. But then again.....

This really is a fun event. I remember the early days in Milan. The temperatures were scorching hot, the track personnel were not friendly (unlike at MMM), and the turnout was a lot smaller. I managed to make it to all the M events except M5. I am hoping to make it to M7 this year. Really does depend on a lot of things though. Darren.

I'd drive it Chris! Heck I'd drive anyhting at this point!

I wish my car could be ready in time, but hell, look at it. Engine is still sittin on the stand, trans is still apart, rear end is still dropped, fuel tank needs to get sumped (btw if anyone can do this for me I'd pay them good!!), still need to reorder the cross member, still need to order a-arms, still need a fuel system, still need an electrical system, **** I've got so much to do I'd be lucky to drive it next spring!

But if anyone wants to volunteer some time this winter to help put it back together I'd appreicate it, and I have a heated garage so we won't be freezing to death.

Anyway I'm still hyped up about M7, M8 will be more fun with the RS.

Boy, I sure hope the track doesn't have a problem with that. http://web.camaross.com/bb/eek.gif I betcha they will.

How about saving it all for the cookout after the event? That might work out better, and will be better incentive for people to actually attened the cookout this year http://web.camaross.com/bb/smile.gif since it eliminates the hassle of going out and getting supplies, etc... I think this would work out MUCH better.

Q, if you agree, let me know and I will put up some info on the event web site about it. I'll also make up a flyer with directions from the track to the park (where we have the cookout) to stuff into the goodie bags that we will be giving to each participant.

E-mail me and we can talk about this...
