Hey guys, I need a pinion bearing puller for my 8.5" rear end. Anyone got one? You think with all these wussy 7.5" rears someone here would have the required tools ;) . Anyhow, where can you rent tools like that? I have to reset the backlash and possibly install a higher gear. These 4.56 are fun and all, but too damn slow to cruise with. Be great for a weekend car though ;) . Even with the Qjet thats robbing me of major power I get a good 4th gear bark. With the holley back on Id expect that bark to turn into a slide  . Damn, I need OD. THe rear is gonna come out tommorow (saturday) so if anyone is bored and wants to help let me know.

Well man, thats the thing.... I dont need to upgrade because there is no way I will break a 8.5" in this application :p . These 8.5s are well known for being suprisingly tough. I know a guy who runs slicks with a 6-71 sbc on the 8.5. has been for a few seasons now. So I dont think my little engine and streetires is even gonna scare mine ;) .

yeah I heard of guys with 800HP impalas run their stock 8.5's without any problems at all & 3.73's in them, they just add a few things & thats it.
