how many times you wax a yr

How many times do you wax your car yearly or even monthly. Since my car TA is black i'm thinking at least once a month wouldn't be a bad idea. Let me know...

Black does require more care, I do my daily drivers (Escalade & M5) 2-3 times a year, the Z06's get done once a year. :(

I do not apply the actual wax or polish (Zaino Z-2 and Z-5 in my case) nearly as often as most people think. It is so durable, I might do a coat maybe oncer per 4 to 6 months on my daily driver (black custom Silverado) and only a couple times per year on my show car (also black), the key to keeping a black car nice is often washing (I clean and detail all my rides the same day I drive them unless raining) and/or dusting. Using a detailer spray several times a week is KEY to having a nice black car.

So I can get away with waxing up to 4-6 times a year and keep up the color (black). I thought waxing monthly would provide the best results. I can basically hand wash my car once a week. So using a detailing spray is also beneficial for keeping this color up? I have a car duster also that I use. I am worried b/c I plan on having htis car for about 5 years and I'm trying to keep the color up as much as possible!

Depends on what kind of wax you intend to use, some only last maybe 4 to 5 days much less 4 months.

Detailer sprays are black paint's best friend.

I used to wax or polish my cars very often, but recently I don't have as much time as I used to for this, which makes protection/durability most important. Back in my hayday, it wasn't uncommon for me to wax every week or every other week, or about 50+ times a year. :D :) I was basically looking for the best possible showcar shine then. Now, I may be averaging a new coat of polish every 2 or 3 weeks, sometimes longer i.e. once a month or two. Waxing often means you should be using abrasive-free products, because your paint does not need repeated use of abrasives.

Kevin is correct that the use of a QD will GREATLY enhance the durability of the actual polish on the car. Some QDs are mainly for shine purposes alone while others, like Zaino's Z6, will actually extend the durability of the polish underneath. Regular use of a good QD for your wax or polish can extend it's life by a few months. Regular washing and QDing over Zaino polish can extend it's durability well past 6 months.

As long as you aren't using abrasives, I don't think you can wax or polish too often, as long as you are enjoying it. :)

Sincemy car is black ,i find i have to wax every time i wash. I also use turtle wax Black coloredwax, its the best store bought wax i have ever used.

Once or twice a month, and ohh yeh IM not a zaino user and proud of it.

Sometimes a few times a month... sometimes I go for 4-6 months without... especially during winter.

OK walmart, and heres how: I am not responsible for anyone doing this!!!! If you go to the automotive dept. of your local Walmart, they should sell a turtle wax car care kit. Comes with some cheap wax and a towel and junk in a small black zippered bag. No where on the bag does it say what its contents are....Sooooo Open the bag, remove all the really cheap stuff, then refill it with 2 bottles of black pigmented liquid wax, pack of meguires wax applicators, the biggest deerskin chamois they make, some wheel polish, and whatever other goodies you can find. Now put it in the back of the row where they are kept, come back in 4 hours, buy it, and pay 14.99 for 80 bucks worth of stuff. :D ----I do not condone this and will not be held responsible for you getting caught---- Just a suggestion;)

lol, that seems like a good idea, but i was asking who makes it and what its called..lol

It's turtle wax brand, i dont know the exact name...It's a liquid in a bottle, they make it in 5 different colors

ok thanks, im gonna go tomorrow to try and get some. does anyone know if that Nufinish wax is any good?
