throw out bearings

i was under the impression that when you replace your clutch, you really should replace the throw out bearings and the pressure plate. Well, I'm having some tranny work done, and they are going to be replacing my throw out bearings. Does anyone know if I should replace my clutch or pressure plate as well? My clutch feels like its still good, the car only has 53K miles on it. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks :confused:

If you can afford it now, replace the clutch, pressure plate, bearing, pilot bearing, and slave. It is all apart, so the labor saved when your clutch goes in a few thousand miles will more than make up for it....

What he said. Save yourself the extra labor charges. Get the clutch, pressure plate, slave/throwout bearing, and pilot bearing replaced while it's apart. The flywheel can be reused if it's not all tore up.

You definatly need to replace the throwout bearing pressure plate and clutch disk. The only time you really can change just the disk and still be safe is if your just switching it for a different disk and its not too far gone. It is common practice to change them at the same time. You got a good number of miles out of the origional set up, if you want anywhere near that many out of this one, you need to have them changed.
