Borla is overrated IMO. I would go with anything but Borla. If you want the power that Borla has to offer, just put a cut-out in line before your muffler and you will get the power you want, when you want it. I just can't justify the price for basically a cutout (thats the way most guys run them-wide open with a tailpipe http://web.camaross.com/bb/rolleyes.gif )

It's tough to beat the looks and sound of the Corsa. Performance impact is within the normal range of most aftermarket catbacks (Corsa, Borla, B+B Triflow,...). I wouldn't trade mine for anythine else.

It's important to remember they're not cheap now that they've bumped the cost for the premium tips which were standard when I got mine 1,500 miles into my '01.

[cough]CORSA[cough]

I absolutely love the sound of my Corsa. On a stock setup it will be ok, but with headers women and children will fear it.

Borla
The only thing Borla needs is to be welded on, insted of just bolting it on.

I do like Corsa but I think Borla gets the nod from me. I had Borla on my '99 SS.

never heard the corsa, I love my Borla, and it sounds completely different than a cutout IMO. the tube going to the back of the car changes the sound quite a bit to my ears

the nice thing about it is that you can change the sound when you want, if you want the corsa a little louder, tough. with the Borla, you spend 5 minutes and change plates, and voila! louder... want it quiet for a long road trip? change plates....

Plus, unlike a cutout, you dont lose power when you close the Borla off, In fact, when I dynoed my car with all the plates, Wide open gave the worst numbers, though they were all within 3 hp and 4 ft lbs...

Both the Borla and Corsa are nice, but I prefer the Corsa for looks and sound (I went this way).

Thanks for all the help guys I really appreciate it, I know what the borla tips look like but what does the Corsa tips look like? anyone have a pic? I'm starting to gear toward the Borla because of the plate option. How does it run at the 70-75 MPH mark? does the drone bother you or is it not even noticeable?

before the headers and cam, I went on a 500 mile trip to Virginia, a few times, and with the plate closed, didnt even hear the thing at cruise, I came back with the 1.5 or 2.5 inch plate (i cant remember which) and heard it a littel but it wasnt bothersome. Open it would have been a littel annoying after about 5 hours I think... but then all I woulda had to do was stop at a rest area, spent five minutes blocking it off and it would be fine again..

Now with the cam and headers, It is OK on the highway closed, my gears actualy whine louder than the exaust is. Open is a totaly different story now...

I would say that at idle/low RPM, it isnt much louder than the stock exaust, But get on it and you will hear it well

Here are some pics of my header install, a couple shots of the tips and some vids of how it sounds as well. The vids on that page are before the head and cam install.

You can also take a look at the www.tbyrne.com (http://www.tbyrne.com) exhaust section for some pics and clips for the Corsa. They've got a stock clip and a modified clip to show you what you have to look forward too.

The modified clip is Tom's Z so think SC (I think the clip is before the new 409CI), Heads&Cam with ORPs. Mine sounds like the modified one these days. http://web.camaross.com/bb/biggrin.gif These show that the Corsa can rumble with the best of them. http://web.camaross.com/bb/smile.gif

BORLA!
Had it, loved it, wished I still had
it.

You wont regret it. Its nice tobe able to change the sound whenever you want. It takes a little more than 5 minutes though, the top bolts sucks to get at.

You must have read my mind because I was thinking about asking this same sort of question. I'm thinking about putting a cat-back system on my camaro. http://web.camaross.com/bb/smile.gif

I'm curious... How did you narrow it down to Borla and Corsa? There's lots of different brands of exhaust systems out there.

I'm leaning towards Borla because of the changeable plate. But I guess ultimately I need to find somebody with Borla and listen to how his or her car sounds.

Generally opinion is that Corsa and Borla are the two best sounding, and looking combination catbacks. B+B Triflow is another but tends to be sold by fewer vendors.

The Borla fans like the sound, looks and tuneablity with the plate. The Corsa fans like the looks, the lower rumble sound and the fact that they never need to play with a plate to get their favorite sound. http://web.camaross.com/bb/biggrin.gif

It's very rare to see a person that buys either of these catbacks that would want to trade for something else. You'll enjoy either one of these when you hang it on your car. http://web.camaross.com/bb/smile.gif

Well I looked at all of them, asked around and everyone was saying either Borla or Corsa, and so far it's been 50-50, i'm also looking at the Borla system because of the plates but the Corsa is a little different then what everyone else has. @ milen the other day during the rented out track everyone had Borlas on there cars and it sounded very good, and really good going 100MPH! however i want to be different otherwise i would of bought a Rustang.

Anyways keep them coming guys, you have more then one person deciding which is the best.
