trans temp gauge

Ok, this may be a dumb question, but when I was installing my auto meter trans temp gauge today it said something about mounting a wire to the ignition switch??? Does anybody have any input on this...their instructions are quite vague, like all installs. Anybody got any ideas...may be a dumb question, but I am horrible at electrical stuff. Send me a line...thanks.

well, is it mechanical or electrical?

if it is electrical, that wire will be the one that turns the gauge on when you turn your motor on. you need to find a hot wire, you can probably find one in the fuse box to tap, or what i'd do is find the hot wire to the radio, that way when you turn your car off in the staging lane, your gauge will still be on, until you open your door, at which point it will turn off.

now, if it is mechanical (which i doubt), it will be for the light in the gauge, you could also wire that to the headlight switch.

I have one in my car and it only has three wires. There is a power and ground for the light and the wire that runs from the sensor that you put in the test port to the gauge. That's it. Is your different?

BLKLT1_TX, for the one that is in the fuse box, I thought about doin that, but didnt know which one to tap into. It made it sound like it has to be hooked up to the actually ignition switch. I looked in the fuse box, the only thing that I could see as to what I could hook it up to was the PCM IGN fuse. But didnt know if I could do it to that. And yes it is a electrical gauge.
