Friend is running a turbo 4 cylinder, platinum plugs, 18 lbs of boost. He's also running a 50 shot. 20k on the plugs and car runs fine.
I thought platinum plugs aren't supposed to be used with turbos , not to mention nitrous oxide?

No, they're not the best choice, but a motor will live fine with platinums and a PA, as long as everything else is fine. I've been running a 150 shot on my bone stock LT1 motor for about 7 months (6k miles), with no problems. That's WITH the stock plugs/wires. However, I believe my car is running on the rich side, so I think that's playing a role.
Changing from platinum plugs is just like any of the other saftey nets that people use, yes, to play it safe, you should step to one grade colder, BUT you can run the plugs.
There's that fine line between hauling ass and detenation(sp), when running platinum plugs, you're just riding a little closer to that line:D
