oval track and sway bars

I'm planning on racing on this oval track where I live. Its 1/3 of a mile around so its very small. Would 35mm front and 25mm rear sway bars be good for this? I heard that 25mm rear bar is bad for autocrossing but what if you are in a constant turn? I'm thinking the rear may still get too loose maybe? I appreciate everyone's advice. :)

All you can really do is try it out and tune accordingly:) Every car is different in weight, balance , stiffness. Tires, shocks, springs, sway bars...

I do wish you luck though that will be fun as hell on an oval!:eek: Don't look AT the wall or you will meet it personally;)

I've not read of anyone racing an F-body on an oval course, at least not their daily driver. The road course folks seem to like the 32mm bar on the front, and I don't think the 25mm rear bar will do anything for you other than cause excessive oversteer. I used to use the 25mm Addco bar, and even on constant radius exit ramps the rear-end would tend to slide out with too much throttle.

If you have the opportunity and multiple sizes, do what AutoRoc suggested and maybe swap between runs - if there is more than one run...?

Yeah trying it out would be ideal for me to tune correctly but its a drag race where 30-100 street registered cars show up. You only go around the track once against one other car. If you win you stay in for the next round. Process of elimination. You could only get one shot at it possibly. If your good you get 4 + shots at it. Not much chance to practice. Thats why I was wondering if anyone might share their preference of sway bar sizes for this type of race.

BTW yeah it is dangerous and theres been a few cars who totally got destroyed in it before. These are registered street cars too. :D

In case you wanted an idea, here are some pics of the race event I want to enter. This event has been around for decades around here. I feel bad for everyone who doesn't live in the area and can't watch the insanity of this race event. As you can see occasionally people's cars get fender benders or even once every year or so a person destroys their car. Unfortunately that two tone light/dark green eclipse won this event. :yuck: That damn thing was unstoppable.

Thanks for your advice Jim. From what I've read on many forums, many people frown at the 25mm rear bar and I'll probably avoid it too. Lately I've been thinking about getting 35mm front and 21mm back both solid. I like the idea of my camaro being pretty solid but I'd also like a little bit of roll in the back. I will probably take my car to a 1/4 mile sometime too and I don't feel like changing bars after I make the modification. I figured this 35mm/21mm might be a decent happy medium.

Sorry to bring up an old post, but I was just curious what happens at these races when a driver hits onother (like when that Mudstain hit that 2nd gen Trans AM)? Just curious.

I'm honestly not sure. I think they make you sign something that says you can't sue the track or anyone for damaging your car. Its a risk that you have to take I guess. There are times where no one will even touch another car for a whole year. Last year however as you can see in the pics, there were 2-3 cars wrecked and 10 or more fender benders. I'm hesitant to drive my car in it but I'll definitely do it in a few years when my car's value goes down. Either that or get another car to race in there. All I know is the winner must feel like king of the world when he finishes that with all the crowd cheering for you and everything.
