My oil gage was reading around 100-110 4th mark out of 5, if I raised the rpm's the gage would not move any notable bit. So replaced the oil sending unit and changed the oil... the gage now read around 70psi but still does not move when the motor is revved, it also does not move under a load…

So how do I test the gage, the best thing I have done so far is unplug the sending unit and when I start the car the gage Max’s out. I would think if the gage was good it would not move any. I’m planning on hooking a manual gage

Im not sure how to test it, but my car is like that sometimes. Some days, the oil pressure stays at 80 and doesn't move at all even after the car is fully warmed up. Then other days it moves up and down from 60 to 80 when i press the acclerator. Its like it has a mind of its own. Some days it works and others it doesn't.

The sending unit itself may be bad, You also must consider that the gauge isnt exactly the most precise peice of equipment ever made. However in your guys cases it sounds as if there may actually be a problem with the gauge.

It may not be the most precise, but it shouldn't stop working some days, and work others. This leads me to believe that something is wrong my gadge.

well i would unlpug the oil sending unit and see what the gage does when it's unpluged and running. you will find the sending unit right above the oil filter on the 3800. i have already replaced my sending unit and it still giving me problems.

my gage has always worked before this, it always followed the rpm's before, now it's only staying around 70psi
