Sorry, we do not allow attachments here regardless of post count.

We don't allow that either. You can LINK to images, but not post them inline.

And the reasoning is???

We at thirdgen.org allow posting of images and it's worked great for us. We can post directly off our hard drives and do not need a hosting site to do this either. It's great to be able to "show" how certain things are done. Remember, a picture is worth one thousand words.

Was our answer not good enough?

That is because the pictures are hosted at thirdgen.org. We are not thirdgen.org, and we are not able to host people's images for them.

Also go here:

You still can. Just find a place to host them, which is easy since there are many free services out there, plus you usually get a certain amount of web space with an ISP account. And like I said earlier, you can link to the pictures and can still tell the thousand words without forcing people to load them regardless if they want to or not, and you are helping out your community by not incurring additional bandwidth and server loads.

What answer? I re-read all the posts above and you basically state, "You can link to images, but not post them inline." This does not answer why it's not allowed here.

Jason, I don't want to be critical, but you are incorrect. All posted pictures are NOT hosted at thirdgen.org. We can link directly from our hard drives -- NO HOSTING required. We use vBulletin to accomplish this. I notice this site uses the same.

The pictures that you think are being hosted off your hard drive are not. They are being uploaded to the thirdgen.org server - as it is with any BB software that allows you to 'attach' files to a post. Kills bandwidth and server space.

Dustin,

I appreciate the specific information. As always, no one knows everything and I'm no exception. So does this mean the reason why it's not allowed here is because of a server (space) not being sufficient?

U 8 Dusst,

NEVER insult people on-line. I have never and never will resort to this tactic. It's a prime example of what NOT to do on the internet. If you cannot post anything constructive, don't post at all. Reading your response only confirms in my mind that there are very immature people out there. Because I was not aware of the specifics of this topic, does that make me an "idiot"? I think not. Do you know me well enough to insult me? I think not. Do you know what I do for a living? This type of attitude just makes me sick. Remember what your mama told you a long time ago, "If you can't say anything good, don't say anything at all."

To all,

Personally, I will not get involved in this type of conversation, so I will not post on this thread again as it raises serious questions about the maturity level of some here. Guys like U 8 Dusst should be warned about posting this kind of message. If you did this on my board, you'd get an e-mail from me stating you're walking on thin ice (which includes possible probationary status).

Willie,

You have referenced that a lot. With all due respect, this site is not thirdgen.org. We do things our way here, just like other site owners do things their way. We have been online for longer than almost all of the other auto sites out there and we know what we are doing and we have our reasons for doing what we do.

We do not go to other sites telling them how to do things or try to get them to justify what they do and we appreciate the same in return.

So please, enjoy this site for what it is and don't expect it to be what it isn't. You will find that your time here will be better spent that way. Thanks for trying to help.

Inline images pull them off whatever they are stored on..meaning that if I post an iinline image stored on my server here it will pull it off mys server...so it wouldn't hurt this sites bandwith...just make pages load slower. I have noticed on this board if you give an inch people want a mile...like when they added more smilies, people came up 100 other ones they wanted. Also I can just see all the huge pics and stuff that people would put in thier sig clogging pages. In this case they are probly right for not giving an inch.

Can you say hipocrite? You are judging my maturity level by ONE POST on an message board? The reason I posted that was because you sounded so confident that you were right, not to mention, Jason DID answer your question BEFORE you posted this.

What answer? I re-read all the posts above and you basically state, "You can link to images, but not post them inline." This does not answer why it's not allowed here.

1 post before that...

I sure thought that was answer.

I called you an idiot on false pretenses, and you called me immature on false pretenses. We're even. :)
