Valley Forge Picnic...

Need to pick a weekend / date for a picnic at Valley Forge, I say maybe May 17th (saturday) or 18th (sunday)?

The following weekend, 24th or 25th, is Memorial Weekend. The park might be crowded then, but consensus wins!

May 31st and June 1st is NASCAR at Dover, bad weekend.

I'm in...as long as its not the 17th, or 18th. the 17th is AIS at Ciecil, and the 18th Liz is graduating from college. So that weekend is out for me.

I'm in. Date doesnt matter to me, except for Memorial Day Weekend, I'll be in Charlotte.

Father's day weekend is also the GM at Carlisle so that's a bad weekend. June 7 or 8 sounds pretty good.

sounds good,june 13-15 is gm nationals and carlisle but any date before that is good.

And offering my house (inground pool and very large parking lot) for a break after the park. I live 5 minutes from the park up rt202. So, if the weather's nice bring your trunks.

Look forward to seeing some of you from last year and meeting new friends.

I did bleach on the tires... I'm not sure if lighter fluid would start a fire. Since we are responsible adults, we should make sure we have a good quantity of water nearby just in case you do something like this....

June 8th is great for me! It is the only day of that month I have free from other events! If its official I will try to get some people from my club.

I think EAZE E 96Z , Projectz28, ledfootz28 and Hookerf14 have made June 8th starting at 10ish official.
(Except I think Hookerf14 is going to leave his inground pool at home so we don't mess it up.... :lol: )

Arrivals starting at 10:00am (like, before noon :D) in the lower visitor's parking lot.
Not sure where we are going to end up to have the "picnic", but maybe that would give us a reason to cruise the park in one obnoxiously lone slow line... :D

I'll bring lighter fluid, a bag of charcoal and a lighter. Maybe some hotdogs if I sneak them past The Carol.

Like to start the "Who's who list" as we are talking three weeks to "show time". Please talk this up if you meet up with any of your fellow Buds this coming Memorial weekend.

I have been drumming up more FBods that don't post on this forum or don't have computers. Got al least 4 more attending. Should be a great day.

I'm going to take a ride over there this weekend and check out the facilities. I don't remember ever seeing a spot to grill. I will talk to the rangers at the info center and see whats up.

As mentioned earlier, my place will be available to continue the party. (inground pool and grills if needed) Don't let the sig fool ya, we live 5 minutes from the park.

I'm trying to remember of a place that we ended up at last year. I think it was north on rt422 for an exit or two. I know that they had those standard issue grill stands there. I'm not too knowledgeable of that area, but perhaps it was on the other side of the old betzwood bridge? Just a thought. And while I'm thinking, I wonder if we are allowed to "start a fire" in the VF Park. Maybe I can locate a propane thingy if need be.

ron, I think we ran into this problem once before... remember way back a few years ago at the first "VF cookout". Yes we had it in Betzwood park, but alot of people complained because of the parking situation. Its not big there and we had to all drive off the end of the parking lot into the grass. Lowered cars had problems. Then the whole cookout thing became an issure with "making fires in a national park". Thats why we changed it to a "picnic" and everyone was on their own for food. these things have a tendency to get rather large... the first time we did this we had listed 20 people and 50 cars showed up! no way we were gonna have that much food. How about we make it a BYOF thing. I'll jujst pack a cooler with some drinks, snaks and a hogie. Hogie for me drinks and snaks for everyone. If we all do that the food issue is covered.

Oh, and last time we looked at the BBQ pits at the park, we decided we would rather cook on the sidewalk that cook in there...

all I have to do is get some tires for my new wheels and find the time to make them fit. Might not happen by the 8th, I might just have to cruise out on my stock salad shooters... hmmmm, speaking of which I dont need them anymore, so maybe I can waste some rubber later on;).

Hmmmmm.... dang good point, Brain, I mean Brian. Don't want to cause any grief on parking and to those with lowered suspensions...

I'm just as happy with BYOF and make it a picnic. This way I won't have to worry about a messy bag of charcoal bouncing around in the car. .. ugh. Yep, WaWa hoagie sounds just like the ticket. Plus keeping at VF, would make it easier to find for those out of the area... like me. Although I am quite adept of flying around clover leafs forever...

"Waste some rubber later on..." Yeah, you've been know to do that and fumigate the entire area from mosquitoes for quite awhile. :bow: I'll make sure I'm not lined up behind you when you do so. Buhahaha...

I'll be there, we're having our party this weekend so the 8th is good for me. If they have grills, then why not bring some charcoal and cook up some dogs and burgers. Everyone can bring what they want(like we did at Tyler) but leave the yellow jackets home. I'll bring the cigars and hopefully that will keep the locals away.

they do have grills in certain places. But the last time I saw one, the last thing I wanted to do was eat food that came off of it if you know what I mean... I'm just packin a hogie and I'll bring extra snacks for everyone.

Well, I guess you guys could just throw some of the food on my 454, it runs hot enough to cook with. :D

Cool... Ill bring my firend with his stang... but he just ran 12.11 last night :( GOt an ATI Procharger on a lil 4.6 2V 2000 GT... Nice car tho... cool kid, even tho he drives a stang :D

13.09 huh?? nice... mine was 13.05... ONCE... my car is a POS since then and I cant get under 13.11 this year which upsets me but oh well.. time for drag radials (315 35 17's) and a bottle of juice :D

BTW where is valley forge park exactly?? Im assuming its by Valley Forge HIgh School in Pama Ohio... or am I like, way the hell off base here?

Although your certainly welcome to come, I think you might want to take a pass. We're in PA, in a northwest suburb of Philly. This park is the actual spot where Washington and his troops about froze to death before crossing the Delaware river into what is now New Jersey. Very cool place, the historic "wow factor" is off the chart.
