hypertech programmer

i got the programmer (already have 160 therm) and updated. my reading still reads 200? whats up with that? any help would be greatly appreciated

your car is probably a 99-02 their gauges do not really move...to truly tell u need to get it autotaped...but im guessing everything is working

i was about to say that.


Anyway, even if it did read accurately, having a 160 thermostat and a Hypertech Programmer does NOT mean your car will always run at 160 degrees. It means it will start cooling the engine once it REACHES that temp.

Very true, I have the predator programmer so I can see what temp the car is running at. With the 160 thermo it runs around 175-180, with the stock thermo it was running around 193-200.

If you have the HPP3 installed I would check to make sure you are not getting any detonation too. I had the power tuning installed on my car and I had detonation above 5k RPM. I finally uninstalled it and I have not heard any pinging since. Just a thought.. and something you should at least check into.

What they said .... gauge is an idiot light.

As for Hypertech tuning and pinging ... a revision *may* be coming out. They have a new R&D team looking at the LS1 tuning. :D It's in the early phases right now, but it's coming.

Are they going to allow people to send in their programmers and get them updated for free? Because the way things look now I am going to sell mine in a few more months. Just waiting to get LS1 Edit and I will have no need for HPP3.

Haha......yea they get a "new group" in tuning every few months!!! LOL........:lol:
