.500 Pro Tree pondering's...

NMCA EFI class runs class handicaps off of a .500 Pro Tree. Trans brakes are allowed, I do not have a TB! How may I counter their naturally faster reaction times?

I know I can put my car in deeper in the stage beams. While this will probably give me better reaction times on the time slip, will it ACTUALLY help on REAL WORLD reaction times. Really all I have done is place the front edge of the tires further past the stage beam, something like an inch or two.

imo it would have to help your rt as long as you dont overcompensate and rd light. i havent ran .500 pro tree but a couple of times though either so i may be totally wrong. on the other hand if you have a line lock and two-step you can sort of use them together as a transbrake substitute. just put your two-step on a toggle switch and use the same button for both. after your burnout flip the switch so that the two-step and the line lock used simultaneously. when you are staged use just enough pressure on the brake to hold the stall of the car and there you have it an almost transbrake. has almost all the same characteristics. once you have the car staged and your finger on the button all you do is keep it floored and let off the button. get what im saying?? anyways good luck with whatever you do.

One thing that you could try is stalling up the converter more.
When I was trying for maximum et I was flashing the converter from 1000-1400rpm and my reaction times were slow. low 6s to high 7s.
But when I race I stall it up to 2000rpm and leave exactly the same way and cut .501 to .560 lights.
I don't change anything that I do but the car leaves faster.
Staging deeper and leaving exactly the same way that you normally do should trip the lights quicker too.
Finding a place to practice on a .500 pro tree will be the hard part http://web.camaross.com/bb/smile.gif

You might try a smaller front tires, 26" or 25" some even go as far as 24". As a bigger front tire will help with ET a smaller front tire will help with the RT. A high stall converter max for the combo will help too.
