Jcb890 04-27-2003, 09:48 PM I was thinking about getting a Flowmaster cat-back because i like the way they sound and then get an electric cutout cuz the Flowmasters have been said to flow like absolute crap.
The question is...where is a good place to buy the cat-back and the cut-out from? and the other question is...where should i get them installed. i dont wanna spend a sh*tload of cash, but i want the job done right and done good.
any help would be greatly appreciated.
thanx,
jake
mrgto 04-28-2003, 05:43 AM Get a Loudmouth. IT will solve both problems.
My84Z 04-28-2003, 08:47 AM don;t get a blowmaster this is a warning they suck a$$. if your looking for cheaper catbacks get a loudmouth or a hooker those are nice set ups.
95TA8280 04-28-2003, 12:48 PM Flowmasters sound AWESOME! I have mine and a cutout (always open) and I love the sound. Even when it's capped I love the way it sounds and I get many compliments on it.

And Nedyno can install the exhaust.

Jcb890 04-28-2003, 02:59 PM guys, i know the Flows aren't that great for flow, but thats y i was gonna do the electric cut-out. i love the way the flows sound, but i know they flow bad so thats what the elec. cut-out is for...
another idea i had was to have some custom 3" piping done from the cat back into 2 bullet mufflers and whichever tips i chose so it would sound nice and be a dual exhaust...
im lookin into getting either a full exhaust w/ a cat-back and headers and CAI or going with rims and lowering springs if i have enough after the rims. im leaning towards the exhaust because i want my car to sound nice. so if ne1 is selling their cat-back, CAI, or headers or knows a good place to buy them and/or get them installed(i cud prbly do the CAI myself, but wud like the cat-back welded and headers wud b tough). any help is greatly appreciated.
thanx,
jake
TunedPort 335 04-28-2003, 05:56 PM If it helps any, my father just came back from Midas (in Auburn), they replaced his old resonator with two straight pipes on his Vette.
Nice TIG weld, everything came out good. Sounds great too. The guy did some pretty good work.
Jcb890 04-28-2003, 08:30 PM maybe ill have to look into that. do u happen to know what kind of parts they can get? like if they get flowmaster or whatever or their own kind? did ur dad use their pipes or bring them some he already had? which type of weld is better TIG or MIG, i cant remember?
thanx,
jake

I think they could order you a Flowmaster cat-back...maybe, but why not just order it yourself?
They made the pipes while the car was there. The guy cut out the resonator (basically a big muffler sized peice underneath the car), then welded up 2 peices of straight pipe. Not a hard job and only took him 45 minutes to do. We paid him 50 bucks.
TIG welder is usually better since you get a "smoother" weld from it. You can still get a nice weld out of a MIG, but you need to be really good.
Also I bet they can make you a 3" cat back with the bullet-style mufflers. Just bring the mufflers with you and show them where you want them mounted.
Welding in the cutout would be a pretty easy job too, I assume you're going to place it right before the rear axle?
Jcb890 04-28-2003, 08:46 PM i know i could order it, but they might give me a better deal if i ordered through them since i wud give them the install $ and the $ from the exhaust...i dunno.
who knows the best place to get the best prices on exhuast stuff...headers, cat-backs, and cut-outs.
thanx,
jake
