Chevy Nova SS First: 2.3161

I could not find third gear in that race for some reason. it just wouldn't go. I finally gave up, and let off the gas, and basically coasted across the line. I didn't care at that point. I'm mad tho because that was my best R/T (on my first time to the track), and my buddy says hist best is 0.6? after a few years of racing. But I take comfort in the fact that the Nova would've burned me anyway. 14.316@100.72?? (for the Nova) Damn, thats respectable.

2001 Camaro SS First (me): 0.6953

As you can see, he was closing on me fast. It was apparent his car has more HP (due to mods), but poor driver skill. had it been a 1/2 mile, he would've blown me away from the 1/4 to the 1/2. I have no doubt he could've won, if he knew how to drive.

Race City's altitude is actually 3350 feet.

Must have been on Friday Night Secret Street. Yes the air has been bad for the last few weeks. Last race we were at 7000 feet. Typical race days are only 5000 feet. I had to go down 3 jet sizes to keep the car in the 11's. It was also so hot I had trouble keeping the engine and tranny cool.

I rairly get out to the Friday night races but you can come and watch or participate this weekend. Saturday night test and tune is $25. There will be a king of the hill race for an extra $10. All classes get lumped into one bracket class.

Since you run 14.0 and slower you can come and race in Sportsman class on Sunday for another $25. At least in the King of the Hill race and Sunday brackets you have a chance of winning some money plus a trophy on Sunday. Friday nights gets you nothing.

If you pay for the weekend pass ($50 in your case) on Friday night you get to race for free on Friday. No $20 Secret Street fee.

If you manage to get 100mph in a street legal car on Friday night, go up to the tower and they'll give you a Race City 100mph club decal for your car. You're already running low to mid 90's so it shouldn't take much.

I don't know what to say either. http://web.camaross.com/bb/smile.gif But your car should run low 13's. The day after I bought my 98SS I went to the track(car had like 40 miles on it) best I could do was a 13.90.

But to give you an example of how bad of a M6 driver I was... My Girlfriend actually drove my SS of the dealership lot because I couldn't drive a stick. http://web.camaross.com/bb/smile.gif sad I know but hey. I drove the car around a little bit that night and practiced though.

You'll get the hang of it, Just practice your shifts and stuff on the street. If your worried about getting tickets, practice your launches at the track.

The car should have potential to run 13's but look at those 60' times. You had a lot of wheel spin. That's why I don't take the race car out on Friday nights. There's no traction and my car can be a handfull when it starts spinning.

At least on Saturday night and Sunday drags they spray the launch pad with VHT.

Yeah, I was laying rubber each launch. I've had some good launches on city streets, with no spin, but I guess I was nervous, because I had probably a good 1.5 sec of spin each time.

Also, you talked of using jets. What can I do to correct the altitude for my car? I'd love to win one of those 100mph stickers http://web.camaross.com/bb/biggrin.gif

Yes, I was at last Friday's Secret Street. There was VERY high winds (almost enough to rip your jacket right off and knock you on your ass), and because of that, it was really dusty. they even shut down the track for about 20min at the worst of it, and most people left. The dust also left the track rather slippery, enough for them to issue a warning over the PA & radio station.

With an EFI engine there's not much you can do to correct for altitude. The BAP will compensate the fuel requirement already. Playing with fuel pressure is about all you can do.

You're just going to have to wait for some better weather to run 100 mph. If the long range forecast of rain this Friday holds off you might get another chance. As I mentioned above, you can also come and race on Saturday nights and Sundays. Since it's a bracket race speed means nothing. Get a good light and run consistant and everyone has an equal chance of winning. Running heads up on Friday night just shows who has more HP. Try dialing in a car and win isn't as easy as it looks.
