whats the best fuel injector cleaner??

any one know of the best theres just so many hard to see which one would work best:confused: . Any advice would we sweet thanks

Think they all work OK, use the STP stuff myself. Believe the Penzoil one also provides some lubrication. Might be good to change out the fuel filter too....

A few of the local guys like the Chevron Techron cleaner additive. My grandfather was a chemist and said to look for ones with "aeromatic naptha"... he says that stuff is really strong. There is a Crappy Tire brand bottle that uses that stuff. I haven't really ever noticed a difference after using any of the additives though. Oh yeah, you will hear a lot of the guys on the board talking about Seafoam. Never used it though.

Read an article in Hot Rod. They tested several. Only the Chevron Techron was worth anything. There's another that actually works but I don't remember the name. They claimed the others were nothing more than a waste of money.

There's a place around town somwhere that you can have them sonicly cleaned. It costs more than stuff you dump in the tank, but it makes them work like new.

Crappy Tire will most likely not have it. Stop by your local Chevron station. ;)

My first guess would be Chevrom :p Your injectors should be fine, how many km do you have now?

the new ones jonny only got 1500kms on them but i am doing a oil change this weekend, tranny change, and might as well put some of the injector cleaner in to keep safe of mind thats all

I hear that GM's Top Engine Cleaner (TEC) is the equivilent to Seafoam.
I don't believe we can't get Seafoam here in Canada unfortunetly.:(

Yeah, CanadianZ has used the GM TEC... maybe he will pipe in. I have a bottle sitting around here somewhere, but I haven't tried it yet.

I've used Seafoam (GM TEC), but that's more for removing carbon build-up... like carb cleaner does.

I don't know how well it would work for injectors (never tried it in the fuel system), although the bottle's label does talk about adding it to your fuel tank for that purpose.

personally I'd just fill up with Chevron premium, throw in a bottle or two of their Techron additive, and save up for a sonic cleaning with proper solvents. :)

The best results I ever got for cleaning Fuel Injectors was when I went to Cdn Tire and had them do a cleaning service on them. I think it cost about 60 bucks and was well worth it. They connect up a bottle of concentrated cleaner directly to the input of the fuel rail. Then they fire up the car and it runs for 10 minutes or so on this stuff. It really does clean em up. The story they gave me was that the stuff that goes in your tank will clean a little but is more for maintenance than to clean up already fouled injectors. The best method is to dismantle and have sonic cleaning done. Second is the Cdn Tire method. Third is to try the additives. BTW, since I started using Chevron 92 5 years ago I never fouled another injector.
