Redbird + new converter =

A lot of disappointment! NOT in how she moves, but she will just rev to almost 2000 on the brakes before pushing. Danm, I can't win! ASR is supposed to be 4140 RPM. I wanted something to launch off of the 2 step at about 2500 rpm and only using the front line lock to hold car. I want to get my left foot out of the equation while right foot is planted on the throttle, and right hand holding down a button. Faster reflex's this way!

Well anyway we shall go somewhere this weekend for some numbers. She has been changed over to a nitrous car with the 4.10 gear, spooled rear, timing returned to stock and shift point RPM raised a few hundred. NO 6 point in yet! So it looks like Milan where I can go 11.50's legally on a 50 shot!

Biggest playing out thing will be WHAT RPM to bring the
hit-O-juice in at. Under stall somewhere or just after upper stall rpm. Ordered some more RPM modules from Jegs to leave in the 4000 RPM area range, juiced. Probably will be buying more!

I'll have to sneak a 150 shot in at the end of a day some time to see if the car will pull that 10.80+- I EXPECT.

Congrats on the new converter.
Is it sliding the skinnys or are the brakes not holding? If the brakes aren't holding then maybe some of the Hawk pads. If it's sliding the tires.:confused:
Maybe add a rear line lock to work with the 2 step.
How high will it stall with all of the brakes locked? Is it nice and loose?
Here's another ??? Can you rig your 2 step to launch of off just the brake pedal like mine? I pull into the beams and just touch the 2 step button with my foot on the brake, this set it, then I floor the gas when both cars are staged and let off of the brake when ready.

Thanks Tom... I can go 11.50 at Milan without worry and on a 50 shot. It's when I want to try for the run into the tens that I'll get warned. I don't plan to run tens all the time as:

1) It's expensive with N2O at $4.00+ PP.
2) Little rearend, I fear, will not accept too many 10.80 runs before blowing itself into little pieces. :)
3) I've long since given up the idea of keeping up with Tanner
at least until I've won one of the lotteries like he must have!!;)
4) IT's just easier on the car to run a little slower, besides... I might just pee my pants if I seen a ten second time slip with my cars number above it!! :eek:

Al... Tell me my friend how you have the 2 step tied into the braking system and can run off of the button. I've been racking

Doing this is pretty easy, just takes some extra wiring and a relay. This is how I had to wire up my car so the 3-step wouldn't activate everytime I pushed the clutch in.

I will give a text description of how to do it and then when I get home tonight I will draw up a schematic and post a link.

Take a wire from your brake switch (that provides +12V) and wire it to one terminal on a normally open switch. Then wire the other terminal on the normally open switch to the (+) terminal of the coil on the relay. The (-) terminal of the coil gets grounded. Then wire +12V to the common terminal of the relay, and wire the normally open contact terminal to your 2 (or 3) step module, but ALSO wire this terminal to the wire feeding the (+) terminal of the coil on the relay. This makes it so that you need to have the brake pedal pushed in and push the pushbutton to activate the relay. The relay holds itself (and the 2 step) energized until you release the brake pedal.

I had no idea of how to do it with a standard 2 step.
With the LS1s you have the choice of a Harlan 2 step or none. And it just happens that Harlen knows his stuff and makes a kick butt unit with a single wire just for that purpose.

That is very true, Harlen is one extremely smart guy. As an EE, he is becoming my professional idol.:bow:

I figured I could help out a couple of LT-1 brothers to get them launching consistently.

Here (http://pws.chartermi.net/~cbeebe/Pictures/wiring.JPG) is the schematic for the 2-step circuit. I don't have a scanner at home, so I had to take a picture of it with my digital camera. I used 1600x1200 resolution so you can zoom in and it won't be all blury. I will take my drawing to work tomorrow and have it scanned, so I will be able to email it to you guys if you can't download the picture.

LOL... Don't forget about the tree that gives you an endless supply of nitrous. :)

Hink, good luck with the setup. We all know you'll be in the 10's easily. You could go to St. Thomas and run that 150 shoot all day and they won't complain about kicking you out. Ask Taner, they are an awesome bunch. They like fast domestic cars that actually run the numbers.
