93 harness to computer hookups different

I bought a 1993 LT1 Painless Wiring harness for my1983 z-28. It told me I had to have a ECM with the number 16159278 on it. So I bought one. Well none of the connectors match up to the computer hook ups. They are ALL different. The computer is in a black case and 4 oval-squarish holes on one side. They are yellow and each hole has about 22 metal prongs sticking out of it. What is the deal? Are the ECM and PCM different? I don't have the harness for the transmissionb ecause I am not going with a computer controlled transmission. Someone please help with ANY possible solutions

the ECM and PCM are different? When I bought my harness from painless they told me I had to use a computer with that part number to make it work so I did. Is it different between f-bodys and corvettes? You got any part numbers? Do I have the ECM or PCM? What all does the PCM control? Thanks alot!

Well 93' s are diffrent in that there are programmed through a chip. We have a 96 and and a 93. And the connections are totally diffrent. On the 93, the connections are square, and line up all by each other. on the 96, if I remember correctly they are more oval and are stacked , 2 on each side. So yes they are different.

Do a search for using shoebox's user id. Input shoebox, go into one of his posts, look for his signature to get his website address. He has a ton of technical information there. One of those things might be able to help you.
