Carbon Fiber hood... new shock damping, and stripes, not a whole lot else new from what it looks like.

Car lookes good. I like the carbon fiber hood idea, every pound off helps. I have a feeling it my be a sign of things to come for the Z06 in the C6, maybe even more carbon fiber pieces. Should be able to shave a 100 lb's or so and get very close to 3000lb's curb weight.

My initial reaction is disappointment as well. Then again, the much-loved '96 Grand Sport offered nothing more than appearance over an otherwise identical LT4-powered Corvette. I'm sure someone familiar with that model could clarify that statement.

Anyways, I'd like to see more pics. It's better than nothing anyways, and likely indicates carbon fiber use for C6.

When are those magneticalyl controlled shocks going to be avail for the Z06? Are they robust enough for track abuse though?

If they do, I hope GM is smart to have some sorta interface where different settings and alogo's can be programmed in..

Ya, but at least the LT4 was new for 96, and was in every GS... heck, every LT4 bought had a "Grand Sport" plate on it, whether it was in a GS or not... kind of makin git the "Grans Sport" engine more than the "6-speed engine"

Plus, I think the 96 GS was better looking than this too... I'm not crazy about these stripes at all.

Thumbs down

That hood may be CF and that's cool, but the paint scheme on it sure looks tacky.

And maybe as much as 5 grand extra? No thanks. I'll take a regular prodn. Z06 in Electron Blue please!

For the extra 5 grand I could get a nice Grand Sport stripe package applied proffessionally and still have money for coilovers and some nitrous.

But that's not the point I guess... it's a collectable, so if someone likes it, that's good I guess.

If I'm not mistaken, Electron Blue is not going to be offered for '04. If you want that type of blue, you'll have to go with this edition.

another world-beating car that i'll never afford...Sure, i might be able to get it when I'm 55, but by then i'll probably be scared to drive it

The paint job really does nothing for me...a CF hood is great, but with a price increase, you're looking at 58K, without dealer extortion. Still, everyone built will be quickly sold, and stored in heated garages. With a price creeping on 60K, makes you wonder what the C6 will cost.

Whatever happened to affordable performance?? (A truly american idea, where back in the day in Europe and Asia, you had to be a millionaire or movie star to have a fast car). Maybe it hurts GM's bottom line too much...Why dole out cheap fast cars, when the public is willing to pay so much more??? The void left behind by the Z28 is bigger every year...

Agreed. Why not have a black Corvette with a bare carbon fiber hood?

At least they're experimenting with new and unforeseen color combos, i.e. not just boring solid colors. I've always been an advocate for cheap ways to generate diversity within the same model line and that's one of 'em.

other than that it looks like any other Z06 with that front bumper chrome..
