I'm replacing the single snorkel with a open element.I had to disconnect the IAC to remove the old base. Now I can't figure out how to remove the IAC sensor from the old base.It doent look screwed or plugged in.I'm afraid to pull too hard because I dont want to break it.How's it come off?

It's screwed in, which is why the case is a big hex shape. I think it needs a 1" or larger wrench.
FWIW, an open element on a TPI car looks good, but you'll lose power. You're going to be sucking in some very hot air.

It is screwed in. You will need to replace the gaskets tho. There is one there and one between the cover and the TB. Why are you doing that if all you are doing is an open element?

I was following these instructions http://web.ics.purdue.edu/~mforma/old/htdocs/openelement.htm
opps just noticed it was a iaT and not a iaC. My bad. Anyway I finally got whatever it is off by prying it off with needlenose.I got it off in one piece and rehooked it to its harness ans pushed it back toward the firewall. The instuctions said use a 3/4 socket and I was also told a 1 inch.Neither worked and thats where I got fustrated at.
Thanks for answering guys!:D

Next time state what engine you are working on. I was assuming it was a TPI but it obviously was not
