My buddy had that problem with his 87 Iroc. The reason his did it was because somebody changed his fuel pump but didn't want to drop the gas tank, so they cut the body above the tank (Inside the hatch). Go into your hatch and pull the carpet up and check if it's leaking in back there. Just an idea for ya.

It could be you evap canister leaking into the HVAC system under the hood. Is it coming in throuh the vents, or firewall?
I had this problem in my 95, luckily the evap canister is behind the rear wheel well so i only smelled the gas outside the car.

its not a really strong smell just a little bit. the more gas i give it the worse it smells, it dosent do it all the time, but if i run it hard i smell it. Its got a Holley carb on it, i dont know if that has somethin to do with it.

Sounds like your carb is jetted for cold weather. When it gets warmer (i.e. now) the air becomes less dense which makes the car run rich. You need to tune your carb.

I had the same problem with my camaro. the cause is that their are tiny holes in the gas tank filler neck. this is caused by age and gasoline. There was a recal on our cars for that problem. so i went to my local chevy dealer and they replaced my whole entire tank and filler neck for FREE.

i have a similar problem on my '87 Z28, but gas actually leaks from the back of the car(back by the gas tank, off to the one side-the driver side of the car i believe)... the hotter out it is the more it leaks. i hardly have a problem with it in the winter, but in the summer it's a pain in the ass. i have found a way to prevent the gas from leaking though... once i park my car after driving it i get out and open the gas cap about half to let the pressure out and i leave it half way open until i get in to drive it again, but before i leave i close the cap... this IS a pain in the ass but it seems to stop it from leaking most of the time. BUT this only works if i have less then half a tank of gas, otherwise there is no pressure to let out, therefore my car leaks gas. so it seems like as long as i keep the tank under half and let the pressure out after driving, it's fine, but otherwise my tank will leak.
WHAT IS WRONG?

Did this recall affect 89 350 TPI? If so, how do I go about pursuing this?
