snorkelface 04-10-2003, 02:18 PM I was wondering if it would be at all difficult to mount a 6.5" speaker in the stock 6.75" front speaker locations in my '97 Camaro?
Also, how hard is it to mount a tweeter in the A-pillar, or maybe even behind on the side-view mirror mounting point? TIA!:)
snorkelface 04-10-2003, 05:53 PM Another question?
According to a chart, the max mounting depth I can use is 2 3/8". If I get a speaker that is 2 7/8", would it be difficult to add a little clearance back there?
RallyRedTexan 04-10-2003, 06:02 PM What speakers are you trying to fit? You shouldn't have a problem with the mounting bracket. Some 6.5 will fit a 6.75, others will need a $5 bracket from Best Buy(or anywhere really). Or the best option is to make a custom mounting braket from MDF.
snorkelface 04-10-2003, 06:17 PM Cool, that's good to know. I'm trying to fit the Cadence CWM6 KIT component set.
RallyRedTexan 04-11-2003, 12:58 AM They'll fit, you just need to cut the back off the plastic mounting bracket, or fab up a new one all together.
snorkelface 04-11-2003, 11:00 AM Great! I was hoping that wouldn't be a problem?
Anyone mount their tweeters in the A-pillars? I'd really like to know how difficult this is, since I can't afford kick panels.
RallyRedTexan 04-11-2003, 12:06 PM Mine are in the A-pillars. Just make sure you do it on a flat are so it will mount more flush. And don't mess up, the panels are $80 each from the dealership.

Cool. Do you have any pics? Could you maybe give a break down of how to do this? Sorry for all the quetions, but I'm pretty ignorant about this, and can't spend the $ to have it proffesionally done.:)
RallyRedTexan 04-11-2003, 01:22 PM It's not problem. I don't have any pics, sorry. I can go take a few, but right now I'm making fiberglass A-pillars so everything is a mess. I'll get it done when I get home this afternoon.
snorkelface 04-11-2003, 01:42 PM Thanks! Those fiberglass A-pillars sound sweet.

Oh, they will be! Now I just need to decide if I want them in tweed (to prevent sound reflection) or in vinyl (because it looks cooler).
RallyRedTexan 04-11-2003, 03:37 PM Okay, pic is in my Webshots under "Stereo Pics," enjoy!

snorkelface 04-11-2003, 04:11 PM Cool. I think having the tweets mounted like that would be much better than the current setup of being aimed at my feet.
RallyRedTexan 04-11-2003, 04:53 PM Very much so! I would try them a little more towards the middle of the triangle section on the A-pillar though. It's flater there and you won't need to use bodyfiller like I did. Use a drill to start the hole and then dremel it out. I suggest using Hot Glue in case you need to remove it later.
snorkelface 04-11-2003, 05:23 PM Thanks for the tip. Can I mount these in the A-pillar, or would I have to surface mount them?
