How should I launch?

I sill have a m6 with stock suspension and z rated tires How should I launch to keep from spinning and bogging

have any friends that can do it good, thats how im going to learn

I usually launch about half way between Braeakfast and Dainner. :D

Seriously, I dropped my pressure down to 20 pounds on my F1's and dropped the clutch at 2500 RPM. Some guys like to slip the clutch. They might get out of the hole a bit quicker, but I don't want a new clutch yet. :)

What RPM you launch at depends greatly upon track conditions. Experimentation is the only way to know when too much RPM is indeed too much.

Go out to a piece of bare concrete let your tires down to 20 psi an do about a 10-15' burnout. Put your e-brake on and get out to look at the stripes. You'll see that the center is very light to nonexhistant compared to the deep black of the outer edges. That's called cupping from under-inflation. Short sidewall radial tires will loose traction when under-inflated.
Pump them up to about 27 psi and try it again. When you get out to look you'll see that the black stripes will be uniform in color all of the way across. And you'll have much better traction at this pressure. Guaranteed.:D

On the RSA's I slip the clutch at 1800 and still spin a little, but there is no bog- any higher and I'm sideways. On the DR's at the track I slip the clutch at 2500 and have minimal spin, but bog just a tad- it's still gotten me many low 1.9 60's.

I had a 97 Stang GT that LOVED 4K clutch dumping launches even on streeties, but the Z is a different animal. Even at 1200 rpms if I dump the clutch on the street tires I spin madly. I dont dare dump the clutch while on the DR's though- I've seen many people grenage the rears by doing that.

I struggled with the same thing, before I started upgrading my suspension...what I found worked best for me (1.8 60 ft times once I got it down) was launching at about 1800, then bogging it a little until the tires grab, and then get back in it... Might look a little silly at first, but I saw bunches of guys with wheel hop all the way to 60 feet that just romped on it from green on street tires...hope this helps

Try some BMR tubular LCA's to stop that nasty wheel hop ;)

I actually ended up with MAC... six of one, half a dozen of the other I guess...:) Oh, I forgot to mention tire pressure...I ran with 28 lbs in the rear...seemed to work...

what does "flashing it" to 2000 rpms mean? reving it then dumping I think that might work best cause you have the momentum behind it But I don't know Also is it pretty safe to speed shift since we have a rev limit

Our rears (and slutches for that matter) dont hold up very well to clutch dumping launches on sticky tires, so be careful.

I speed shift mine-short shift 2ed about 5K, then 3rd and 4th i run almost up to the redline. If you miss a gear just let out of the gas quickly, push the clutch in and ease it in gear...i've got friends with bent pushrods b/c of hitting the limiter one too many times.
