times with the new cam

I finally got to take the car to the track last thurs. Car had skinnies up front and no sway bar. Only got in three runs. Need practice with the new power and launching.

Run on street tires
2.0936 60'
8.3 @ 86.33 mph 1/8th
12.9089 @ 109.67 mph 1/4

Run on slicks
2.0215 60'
8.3 @ 85.74 mph 1/8th
12.9090 @ 108.38 1/4

Last run got scrubed cuz the rear end started to wobble. The car has the mods in the sig plus a cam, roller rockers, and some new springs. Car is an auto.

What do yall think? I'm happy with the street tire time. Not so happy at all with the run on the slicks.

That was a nice run on the street tires. I don't see a converter in the sig, but that would be a great compliment to your mods and traction with your slicks. Get the 60' down and you will see some good times.

Those are some nice times. By the way, what cam and RR's do you have?

Yes I have the stock stall in the car that is my next mod. I know if i could have gotten a 1.9 or 1.8 on the slicks I'd have been movin. But I just need the practice. I have a comp cams xe 224/236 on a 114 with comp cams self aligning pro mags 1.6 rockers.

Yep I know. I only got in one good run on the slicks. I think I just need more practice with air pressure in the slicks and launching the car. I know it'll come around. But yes I cut the same 60' on street tires as I did on the slicks.

Keep chipping away at it bro, those lower times will come. Also, a stall would really really make you happy...

This I know, this I know.:o Unfortunatly funds are low. I'm trying to find a used 2800 vigi. Maybe I'll have one when the ole tax refund gets here.

Oh how I can relate to the low funds part, been there many times. Especially right now, owe Uncle Sam $1800 on Apripl 15th. There goes the NX wet kit...

Nice trap speed for your auto. And as the others are already saying, your LT1 is in desperate need of an aftermarket stall. ;) If your afraid to go with a Vig 3200(perfect for your set-up) because of that OBD1 1-2 WOT shifting problem, at least get a Vig 2800(which should be OK). Anything less than a true 3000 wouldn't be enough.

Also, quick question: Back when your car had only the GMMG(no headers or cam), could you actually hear that exhaust at idle while sitting at a traffic light or stop? Or was it not real noticeable while idling on your A4 LT1?

Thanks,

Mike

I could probably go with the 3200 which is what I was thinking of before I even dyno'd it but I just don't know about the shifting issue. The guy that tunes my car says he's never had a problem with high stalls and shifting so its up in the air right now. It all depends on whats available at the time I finally have money. I think with some better air that night it would have trapped 110 or a lil higher. It was a lil muggy out.

Before the headers and the cam I could hear it at idle. I bought my car used and it came with a gutted cat. So I can't comment on how it would sound with cats. But yes it was def. noticable at idle with the stock exhaust system. It also depended on how loud stuff was around the car. Like sitting in a parking lot standing behind the car I could hear it a good 30+ feet away. But sitting at a light with cars going by my it wasn't very noticeable.

Thanks Joe, that's everything I needed to know.

And good luck with the converter upgrade.
