rskrause 04-07-2003, 11:52 AM Anyone ever use the Weld Draglite 15x10" with 7.5" backspace on a 4th gen? How did it fit? How much rear brake caliper clearancing was needed? I can get a set of these at a great price, so I'm pretty tempted. Much better choice of tires in 15", and having more sidewall won't hurt either.
Thanks.

Ken95Z28 04-07-2003, 01:42 PM I have a set on mine.
Mainly knock of the fins and you should be fine.
There is a slight rub on the inside of the wheel well, mainly during a hard corning is when it occurs due to the slick and the soft side walls that they have.
I will try to take some pics of the calipers if you like and show you how much I had to take off.
Here are some pics of them

Thanks, that's helpful!

They are real easy to fit Rich. About 5 min on each rear caliper with a grinder and they go on with no problems. They are a real common wheel for our cars. Buy them, get some ET Drags, and let that monster eat.

Thanks! I think I will do that.

Shon Herron 04-08-2003, 10:19 AM I run the 15X10s for my street tires. i run 295-50-15s, the 295s would rub the inside of the wheel well. I went to a spacer on the rear to keep it from rubbing. It looks really cool back there!!

Shon: what backspacing on the 15x10's?
Thanks.

IF I remember correctly they are 7.5" BS. It is 1" more than the 8"ers I have to run the ET Drags on.
taner 04-10-2003, 10:36 PM rich,
go with the 7.5" b.s. other wise you'll look like redneck, not that there is anything wrong with that :D

Thanks! LOL :)
Among over-educated East coasters I am kind of a redneck myself (likes guns, fast cars, don't put up with much s**t).

chevyguy3 04-11-2003, 03:23 PM i have run multiple sets of 15x10" pro stars and draglites, with both 6.5 and 7.5 BS. the 7.5s are much more work if you go with a big tire, but look MUCH MUCH better than the 6.5s. what size tire are you planning to put on them?
fwiw i would never run a spacer on the rears. besides it not being NHRA and IHRA legal, it is too much of a risk as far as the chances of breaking lugs (which i have seen happen way too many times). the size tires i have run with 7.5 BS are 295/50 BFG radials, 28x10.5 ET drags, and 28x14.5 Hoosier QTPs. it takes some work, but i had no rubbing problems with any of them. a 26" tire or a narrower tire will of course fit much easier

I am planning to run 27"x11.5" ET Streets. What do you think? I really don't care much how it looks, they are only for the track.
Thanks.

Redbird 04-11-2003, 07:05 PM Sumpin' I found out running the 15 X 10 X 7.5, that no one ever mentions until they have to put new pads on the back! Your once clearenced wheel will now contact the stater, BIG TIME.
Only thing is to take off most fin material or space slightly. I spaced but will clean up this summer as you need all the offset to at least get most of the tire in the wheelwell. 28x10x15 Hoosier slicks.
chevyguy3 04-11-2003, 09:41 PM the brake interference will be the same no matter what backspacing you run. and like he said, the more your pads are worn down, the less you will have to clearance (till you get new pads).
a 27x11.5 Street will be pretty easy to fit. ive got a few buddys running those with 7.5BS and they didnt go through much to get them on

I can find nowhere in the NHRA rulebook where it says spacers are illegal. Please quote the page number and section.

May not be a spacer issue, but actually a stud length issue. I put in the ARP studs but I dont think they will pass tech on the front or the rear(without spacers). But this can be over come with longer studs; longer than the ARPs I got.
OBE1 95Z28 04-16-2003, 12:49 AM Does anybody make a metric stud that fits our front hubs that's longer than the ARP 2.5"? I've got to run a 1/4" spacer on the front with my Centerline Warriors and the ARP studs are long enough.
