I have been wondering this for about 2 years now.. My dad had a 99 6-speed corvette. He claimed it had about 450rwhp. I am just wondering if it is possible with the mods he had.

B&B tri flow headers and full exausht.
Cold air kit
bigger tb
bigger maf
Very tame cam.. not sure on the specs
Fully ported heads
Dyno tunned till it was a little past perfect and has to run on no less than 100 or it pings.
I think theres a couple small things im forgetting about also.

a company called top flighte corvette out of san diego built the car. I am just curious to know if it was possible the car was making that to the wheels. Also claimed it does about 196mph up top..

I think it's possible, but only with an aftermarket cam thats a little better than tame.

can it happen? Yes

Likely? No

however some shops say they make 450rwhp with just a cam and headers. which most people know is BS since it cant be duplicated on another dyno...

so depends on the dyno :)

the 450 rwhp rating seems reasonable but i'm not so sure about 195mph top end. imean thats about what 33mph faster than a stock vette. i wouldn't have to much of a problem believing 180 maybe even 185 at best.

I am just stating what i was told.. I have had the car hit 135 at the top of 3rd gear. It is set up for roadracing.. so they may have changed the gear in it.. im not sure though.

I'd say it's possible. I saw an actual dyno printout for an '02 Vette that had **mods unknown**;) --- dyno'd 468 rwhp at A.R.E. in Pickering:cool:. Like I said, I'm not sure exactly what was done to it, but that's what the page said;).

Also, I don't see why it couldn't do ~195 mph? 'Vettes are supposed to have a good (low) drag co-efficient, so combined with a hi-po engine (and maybe higher gears:confused: ).............why not?!:p

I know you can't believe everything you hear, but when there is "potential" for the truth, then you gotta give it some credit:cool:.
