97 PCM in a 95

I am tracking down some bad misfires and I have heard that they may be the fault of the PCM.

If I switch my extra PCM from a '97 Z28 into my '95 TA what can I expect? They are both M6 cars. I just want to check to see if this eliminates the misfire-if it does then I know it is the PCM. This is by no means permanent, as I am aware of the OBD stuff, but I just want to check out my PCM.

Any thoughts?

I'm honestly not sure how well it will run, but it is doable. I put a '96 PCM in my '94Z, but I disabled the crank position sensor code, the rear O2's, and I tweaked the wiring harness a tad so that I could get OBDII data on my OBDI diagnostic connector. ;)

The thing you might lose is reading the knock sensor - I seem to recall not getting any knock retard readings at all. The KS for a 94-95 is a different impedance than the KS for a 96-97.

I switched because the OBDII PCM doesn't freak out with a high stall torque converter.

In case anyone was wondering, I will close this question up. I tried hooking up the '97 PCM in my '95. Of course the SES light went on, but nothing funny other than that. I have 30# injectors, so it ran rich, but that was also to be expected. I still had my misfire, so I'm guessing that it's not the computer. Back to the drawing board...
