Well after a very disapointing run at the local 1/8th track the first time out with the car where I ran a best of

9.615@77.57 w/ 2.464 60'

This was with slick street tires

My best run last week was

9.351@77.25 w/ 2.247

All I have changed is the tires to a set of Sumitomo HTRZ's, done the TB bypass, and polished up the inside of the MAFS(did no porting at all). All of these runs were with less than a 1000 rpm foot stall off the line, and I feel that with a little more agressive launch I will be doing even better. Also the weather was about 30 degrees hotter on my runs last week, so I was happy that the MPH had only feel off my about 3 tenths of a MPH.

Next week I will be seeing how much my cut out that is sitting on my couch and !Catalytic convertor will help out along with a more agressive launch.

just a tip- next time try and just leave off idle. dont try and stall the car, just hold the brake, and when you're ready, put it to the floor.

also, what was the water temp of car when you ran? another little piece of advice- our cars run like $hit if they even think their hot. you want to have the temp at 160 or below when you run. that means giving the car PLENTY of time to cool after a pass, and run as LITTLE as possible in the staging lanes. temp on our cars can make as much as .3-.5 depending on exact temp and other conditions.

btw, how many miles does your car have on it? and do you know what elevation your track is at??

The first runs were with dew falling at the track and I couldn't get traction in either first or second.

I pulled better 60's when I stalled a little btu that was also with new tires so I will probably try leaving off idle to see how it works this weekend. Those 60's where with around 30 psi in the tires.

The last time I went out I noticed what you are talking about the temp of these cars. I noticed that about every 15 degrees over 180 it gets I would drop off almost 1 mph. So on my best run I let the car cool down for about 1 1/2 hours and the temp was between 170-180. I know if I cool it down even more then I should be better off so I am going to try it out more this weekend.

I am not sure about the elevation of the track, but it is a fairly low track somewhere between 200-300 ft. The temp on the day I ran my best was 75 degrees and the humidity was 47%, the dewpoint was 50 degrees and the B/P was 29.96, so as soon as I figure out the exact elevation then I will figure up the DA on all of my runs. But the air should be better this week since it has been cool all week.

My car has 98,000 miles on it and to my knowledge the guy that owned it before me hasn't changed the Spark plugs and wires or the FF so I am slowly working on bringing everything up to par. I also think that I have a partially clogged cat.

Thanks alot any help would be appreciated, I am not new to working on vehicles but I am new to these cars.

Went again this week and got another new best. I removed the Catalytic convertor and installed a cutout. My best run of the night was with the cutout open and a more agressive launch than last week. The weather was also almost identical to last week.

2.19 60' / 9.200@78.57

Just thought I would let you guys know how everything went, how do these runs compare with some of your times with similar mods?
