Leaking Oil into coolant

Ok I have stumped quite a few people with this problem, and I figured I would bring it here. I have stumped engine builders, master mechanics, and people who have been around cars for 35+ years.

I noticed oil in the coolant of the Z, so I proceeded to tear everything apart in the car. I had taken everything apart and realized that while I did have oil in the coolant, I did not have coolant in the oil?!? Everyone tells me that if it was a crack or a bad head gasket, I would have both fluids mixed into each other, due to the oil being pressurized and pushing oil into the less pressurize coolant while the car is running, but once the car is shut off and there is no oil pressure the coolant which is still pressurized would push back into the oil.

I have the whole car taken apart, so while im at it I am adding a Cam/Stock worked heads(If they are good)/Headers. I do not want to have to undergo this project again anytime soon, and want to make sure it won't happen once I get it back together.

So the question is: How could I have oil in the coolant but no coolant in the oil.

BTW: Heads are being checked, and the head gaskets look decent.

I had a problem where the radiator would get pressurized to the point of blowing water into the resevior. Your problem sounds more like (a) cracked head(s) to me than a blown head gasket. Have you over-heated the engine prior to the problem?...

The engine has never overheated in the last year of my ownership. It always runs about 200* or so.....

Well I got a call from the machine shop today.....the heads are in perfect shape.....please tell me it had to be the head gasket then......I want to start putting the car back together but want to pretty much verify what was wrong with it first....

Or am I just going to have to guess and see if it was for sure the head gasket...


This is really starting to get confusing.....
