Guys, I need some help! I ordered some parts from Thunder Racing and they're on there way to my house(In Canada). Now, what kind of duty should I expect to pay if any? My parts should be values at close to $1600CDN!!! Do I simply pay my 7% GST and 7% PST plus a UPS brokerage fee of like $50CDN? I 've heard that some parts don't get charged duty and according to a Canada Customs document, the "automotive parts tariff removal order, 1988" they state that after 1988, Canada customs won't charge duty on car parts and accessories. So I think I just pay taxes, correct? Thanks for your help!

You shouldn't have to pay any duty. Like you said PST, GST and the brokerage fees.
Oh, and when they calculate the value for tax purposes they convert the US $ to Can and then apply the tax.

I've orderd many parts from the US now and you are correct on everything except expect to pay more than 50 bucks for brokerage fee as I believe the fee is a percentage of the value but I could be wrong. Every parcel I have received through UPS has had a different brokerage fee amount and the greater the value of the part the more the fee.

Thanks guys,
I used the fasttoys.net page to try to figure out what I'll be paying for brokerage. In any case, you just can't get some high performance parts in Canada for a reasonable price. For example, I got a Borla cat-back system from Thunder Racing for $589 U.S. plus $67 shipping. After taxes and shipping and brokerage, it might cost around $1100 cdn where as I was quoted $1300+!!!cdn from a couple of stores in Canada.

CDN WS6 if you are not in a hurry for your parts next time ask them to send it through united states postal service (regular mail). I learned that way you do not have to pay brokerage fees. That's how I get my parts shipped from Summit and only pay shipping which is also cheaper then UPS and gst and pst to our great goverment. Hope this helps.
