What paint to use?

I am painting my own Z becuase I know I'll do a better job than Maaco and I'd be very proud if it came out well. I want to do it right, so what is a good brand of paint and clear coat? Also, how powerful of a compressor do I need? I have access to a few different ones.

I personally spray with Dupont, but I heard from someone in my shop that used PPG that it is much more user friendly.

I wouldnt buy the top of the line basecoat clearcoat paint since it will be your first time, but definetly get Basecoat clearcoat, not a single stage paint.

We use Valspar at our shop but as long as you stick with a name brand, it is good. I would suggest using ACS200MS clear, the kit will come with HPC 1 which is the activator. 171, 172, and 173 are your choices of reducer, depends on your shop conditions and what not. I would suggest using these products over dupont as they are cheaper and more user friendly, it will last a long time. Duponts Chromaclear is probably a slightly better product, but it simply isn't as easy to use and I recommend against it. PPG has find products but I'm more familiar with dupont and valspar. We use Spies adn Heckker for color because it offers a better color match but if you are doing an over all, you can use Valspar. What color is it? Certin brands give different color characteristics.

I think Valspar would be great for me then, about how much should I look to pay (so I know if I'm getting ripped off or not).

I think the clear kit which is a gallon of Acs200Ms and the activator runs right over $120. I think, I don't remember exactly.
