VHTing tail lights as we speak..

Pics w/ in the hour THis stuff is drying FAST. Iused a 2in1 sponge, the rough side, dry to rough the surface up. Washed w/ degreasing soap, and used a papertowel to dry.

The first coat, I was DEF impressed w/. I laid it on a smidge too thick and I had a small run. -right in the center of the driver's side.

FYI, I used a 2in1 sponge, (like the rough 3m side) dry, to try to smooth it out. I worked ok, untill the paint REALLY set up. (a fingernail would have been more abrasive) IT smoothed it out OK, and the second coat is drying now. I hope I didn't go too much. It's getting dark, so we'll see.

IMO, One coat somewhat heavy, if you're good, is PLENTY... again IMO.

It gives it a NICE smoked look. I forgot to take before pics, come to think of it... I hope people can see my brake lights ok, douring the day now... ..Don't want to get rear-ended.

PICS W/IN THE HOUR!

EDIT... 10 min later...

1st coat, too thick, but good shine
2nd coat, too thin... hazy, blurry...no orange peel.
3rd coat.... JUST RIGHT!

Re: VHTing tail lights as we speak..

Yeah, I just thought of that. I've heard it's a matter of personal preferance... I prolly will..

I can do it tomarro. After they dried I gave them a gentle wash w/ a sponge and water. That helped. I used the Turtle Wax ICE to shine them a bit.. Worked GREAT! The clear coat would be teh HE3aT!!...

I love my car!

GD.. IT REALLY needs that SS spoiler... !

Could that bottle of alcohol contributed to the blurry last pic? :P

You can wash your car at work. Nice.

But yeah looks good. I might redo mine sometime. I did it once and they turned out a little too dark for my tastes and they had a little orange peeling effect. I might have been that it was about 30º out and i was in a hurry.
